I can't believe people are bailing on BCG at this point. I didn't think he was outcoached this game.

 

 

Really? How stubborn does the guy have to be to continue to let Downey penetrate into the middle of the lane with short jumpers? If you're not putting your team in the best position to win a ballgame, then you're not doing a very good job as a coach.

Maybe I misread it but I took it as you were trying to make it sound like this team is still better than they are. If your talking about the people calling for BCG's head then I agree that is an over reaction but as far as this team goes nothing is an over reaction. They are bad.

I hate watching UK lose, but it was fun watching this game with a UC fan and making fun of him for Downey playing at USC.

 

Jeeze, this team is more athletic then what we have had. But the talent level just isn't there yet. Give BCG and me a break. It takes time this is only year 2 and all you can do is take steps forward. I would venture to say that this UK team is better then last years.

 

I hope that there better than last year...But without Crawford and Bradley...:idunno:

No, but he needs to take a look in the mirror. Some of his motivational foolishness is good stuff, but he's seeing now why it was important to develop certain players during the developmental games. There is enough talent on this roster to be a top 15 team. I won't make a final evaluation until after the season, but the team should be improving at this juncture.

It doesn't matter how good of a team you are or how much talent you have; without a point guard it is hard to win. The point guard is generally the leader on the team, we have no point guard(s) !!!

BCG will be fine. Just go and get some true point guards. If Liggins doesnt start playing with better IQ then move him to the 3 spot.

So frustrating to get up by 10 and then blow it.

 

Downey is sick though. How do you guard that high arcing fade away?

 

Also, am I the only person that would have fouled SC's worst FT shooter when they had the ball with 22 seconds? UK was only in the bonus, so send one of their bigs to the line and at worst you end up down one with the ball. At best you get the ball back after SC misses the front end and you get another trip to the line. I'd rather take my chances of Patterson/Meeks/Miller/Steveson scoring than being able to stop Downey.

 

As far as bailing on BCG, he needs at least another year. He IS a stubborn coach, but let him get his guys in and see if being stubborn will work for him. He just may have enough talent coming to run the system he wants. PG will still be iffy next year, but the rest of the lineup should be solid.

I am not going to get on a BCG rant but I have to say that I agree with Wireman and others today. I felt BCG was way outcoached vs. Ole Miss the other night and the same today. No adjustments were made imo to stop Downey. Granted, he is very good and hard to stop but things came way too easy for him in the 2nd half imo.

Yes, the two missed ft's should have been made and may have put things on ice but one cannot put this game on the missed ft's at that time. USC made the plays and U.K did not, end of story.

I thought that Darrin Horn coached an excellent game and had his team executing well. I wish that I could say that I was happy for him but I am not today, against anyone else yes.

This U.K. team has to imo get some consistency to them, they make a run and play great for a fora few minutes then pack it in and quit playing :irked:.

 

I am mad, disgusted and pretty fed up for now but I will be ready to go on Tuesday vs. Miss. State. :thumb:.

What do we have on the horizon for PG next year? THAT"S the scary part of all this....

We don't have a great PG, but that's not the problem Anyone that blames everything on that is not seeing other parts of the game. We have been missing key in-game adjustments in our losses. That is the coach's fault. I'm not bailing on BCG, but he is going to need to pull it together and get the team to peak at the right time.

oldrambler, I feel the same way about Horn. You want to feel good for him, but it's hard to do that. May make him an arch villian to Kentuckians in a way now. He did what he did, but we don't have to be happy for him.

Its a young team. Young teams are "consistently, inconsistent". You have to let these guys develop. Liggins is better then what he is showing. He shows he can play in spurts. We see Miller developing each game. Harris continues to take steps backwards. They are slowly getting better, they are just young.
