January 28, 200917 yr Anyone have any rebounding statistics? They had to have got killed on the boards. It seemed for about a 3 minute stretch they didn't have a defensive rebound and Ole Miss got 6-8 points off put backs. -10
January 28, 200917 yr Porter was in foul trouble earlier, which is why I thought he didn't play; however, I have no clue why he didn't get in later and towards the end. Particularly when Liggins was doing things that were not "within the offense".. He may have forgotten about him...
January 28, 200917 yr I don't understand why Billy G didn't try to speed the game up. With every Ole Miss PG on the roster hurt, why not try to force them into some turnovers? They just didn't have it tonight. Very disappointing, but not tragic by any means. Learn and move on. I thought Liggins actually did a nice job of speeding up their guards in the backcourt, just couldn't guard anyone after they crossed the timeline.
January 28, 200917 yr Don't think he was talking about you..... Thats why I put the clap. :jump:
January 28, 200917 yr This is a very bad loss. To the earlier poster who said Ole Miss is tough at home, LSU beat them last week by 30 in Oxford. If Ole Miss was at full strength then it's not so bad of a loss. But, with the team they had out on the floor, this is a very bad loss. I have watched Ole Miss 6 times this year and they are terrible. That explains thier 10-9 record coming in. But, you have to give them their props tonight. Kennedy out coached Billy, and Ole Miss played thier best game of the year and probably won't play near that good the rest of the year. UK doesn't deserve to sniff the top 25 unless they win their next 6 games. How in the heck was Liggins a top 30 player. He still has not improved one bit since day 1. He is a mistake waiting to happen every time he touches the ball.
January 28, 200917 yr Ole Miss was plain and simple the far tougher team tonight... 100% true statement. UK is still one of, if not the best team in the SEC, they just did not look like they wanted to play. To the UK haters that don't think UK is a top 25 team....
January 28, 200917 yr Bad bad loss. Ole Miss is crippled but smacked UK in the mouth. Let's see what went wrong: -Very very little offense in transition and UK needs that because in the halfcourt, they are not that good. Meeks thrives off transition looks. -Why no transition offense? One is that they couldn't keep OM off the glass, and they didn't pressure he ball at all. -Horrific offensive efficiency. Miller and Liggins a combined 7-26. Far too many shots. Now some were open shots but a few when the game was about a 2-3 possession game and they needed a basket...add in too -Stevenson was awful...couldn't finish...got beat on boards...missed a killer front end of the bonus after a needed stop. -Defensively, they were not good. Trailed far too many screens far too many especially Meeks. Forced others into help and allowed for open looks. Not enough toughness there. -Not BCG's best night...Harrellson probably deserved a shot at getting a chance to knock down some shots from the key area that was open all night. Give AK some credit...his kids played hard, made some shots and got confidence. Huertas is a nice player that UK allowed him to get too many open looks. T. Smith has a nice future ahead of him. UK should have gotten this game, but Ole Miss deserved to win. Use tape to teach and get ready to start another streak...3 in a row at home.
January 28, 200917 yr I don't know why people are surprised by this outcome, UK has been winning solely on the back of Meeks with help from Patterson, seems elementary that when Meeks has a bad game so does the Cats...
January 28, 200917 yr Ole Miss brought it tonight, and UK was exposed. It's apparent that they still have only two players to lean on and this is what will happen most of the time when Meeks doesn't go for 26. No leader at the point, and no fire power from the perimeter outside of Meeks.
January 28, 200917 yr Porter and Harrelson could have MAYBE hit a couple of shots and made them guard someone outside the paint besides Meeks.
January 28, 200917 yr A key............ no, imo the key factor tonight was defense. Ole Miss played very good defense, U.K. did not guard anyone. (of course when you are doing nothing but standing around on offense it makes it easy to guard you! :irked:)
January 28, 200917 yr To the UK haters that don't think UK is a top 25 team.... Roll your eyes if it makes YOU feel better......the reality will come out next Monday.
January 28, 200917 yr This is a very bad loss. To the earlier poster who said Ole Miss is tough at home, LSU beat them last week by 30 in Oxford. . The only thing I can say to that it: Teams bring their A game to play UK, especially at HOME. They don't do that for LSU. Hence, Ole Miss stepping their game up, not too mention knowing it was on National TV. Little things like that make some teams better, when they are trying to beat a POWER PROGRAM such as UK.
