So because Anderson Countys fans said Elliott was third means we should all believe that?

The Anderson crowd has a unique perspective right now...the Bearcats have tangled with three top 5 teams (they lost by 2 to Jtown, 15 to Scott County, and in OT to Elliott County).

 

In talking with my friends in Lawrenceburg, they told me that they were VERY impressed with EC. They also said that, if they were to rank the three teams, they would rank them Scott / Jeffersontown / Elliott County. And the consensus was that Scott was SIGNIFICANTLY better.

 

My thought is that the debate is splitting hairs at this point: The bottom line is, Elliott County is GOOD. This was a great win for the Lions. Great teams find ways to win over top-caliber opponents, even when everything isn't going your way (i.e., rebounds). We'll all get to find out just how good when March rolls around.

Guy's it doesn't really matter what anyone thinks. Everyone is going to fend for their own team. IMO the top teams( and I also have watched them all) are close enough to whichever team is having a subpar shooting night the other will win, or whoever gets the most lucky bounces, or benefit of doubt on close calls etc.

Wasn't Jeffersontown playing without Cosby when they beat Anderson County? That might affect the Anderson fans' perspective, too.

I don't know... I haven't seen Scott County, EC, or Jtown this year...just thought it was interesting what was relayed to me from people who had seen all three.

This was an excellent game. Anderson County played very well in the first half and Elliott County shot poorly including missing layups. In the third quarter Elliott County came out and picked up their defensive intensity which fueled their offense. It was tied at the end of the third quarter. To their credit, Anderson didn't fold, but hung tough. Anderson hit two big three's at the end to send the game to overtime. The outcome was in doubt to the very end. Thanks to both teams for a very entertaining game.

Do scrimmages count as regular season wins now? New KHSAA rule? :confused:

 

Again, the out of state wins are nice, but who cares? They do nothing to help EC win a state title and they aren't KY teams, so yea MC has more top 20 wins than EC.

 

BTW, J'town already beat Anderson Co. without Cosby. :sssh:

 

I'm not trying to bash Elliott at all and you saw I gave them their credit for hanging in there and being able to come back and get the W. Good teams find ways to win ball games, but let's give other teams a little more credit rather than always trying to pump our own team up. I know I'm guilty of this at times as well, but you'll see I ALWAYS give other teams around the state the proper respect that they DESERVE.

 

 

What does it matter what state a team is from as long as you are playing quality opponets. Playing against a out of state opponet that is equally as talented as the top teams in Kenucky helps prepare you just as much as playing top teams in your own state. A win against a top 20 team in Kentucky, in the regular season, does no more to help you win a state title than beating a top team from another state. :thumb:

I didn't say refs were terrible I just thought every close or judgement call went to EC. My point is there was 5 not 1 but 5 charge/block calls and everyone of them went in favor of EC. That is a fact I was there. EC is good but number 2 I don't know about. They have a huge problem rebounding when the other team has size I heard AC out rebounded them 44-25. EC might have the best trio of guards in state though, either them or J-town.

 

Good guard play will take you a long way in high school basketball. :thumb:

I thought the differece in the game was AC handled EC pressure d in the first half and shot shots out of their offense. This allowed AC to get back and play good d. Second half EC made AC speed up and allowed EC to play in transition. AC had no answer when EC played transition offense. I am going to credit both teams for making the other do what they are not as good at. You guys say EC missed shots I say AC had something to do with that. EC made them speed up with their pressure d and got what they wanted a fast pace game. Please give the other team credit just don't say one team missed shots. I think the difference between EC, J-town, and Scott is AC could score easier against EC because of their size. I don't know which team is better but AC scored easier of EC out of the 3. I know the coaches of AC respect EC more for reasons I can't mention.

One can find a hundred different reasons if you wanted to list all the pro's and con's. Truth is .......Ac shot lights out with or without a hand in face in first half and Ec couldn't buy one with or without a hand in face. Both teams had plenty of Contested and uncontested shots. Second half Ec shots were falling a lot better and they are hard to keep up with when the shots are falling and Ac's were at more of a norm. In whatever case Ec out scored Ac 16 in second period, OT included. That was my first time to watch Ac this year. If they weren't playing a little over their head and they play like that every game, they are definately a top 15 team in the state IMO. I was told by a spectator at the game that he watched them 6 times already and that was the best and hardest effort by far that he had saw this year!!!!!!!!!!

I brought my daughter to the game. She had no dog in the race and she played basketball in high school. In fact she has made fun of me for my support for the Lions. She picked Timmy Knipp as the Player of the game as soon as the game was over! Congratulations to Timmy you deserve it, my daughter says so!

Why is everyone so hard on T.Knipp he is only a sophmore. Just give him a another year to mature and the defense will come.

 

He might not have another year to do what can be done this year (exposure wise). He has been on the varsity scene for three years now. He has the most talent I have seen in a long time; but hard work beats talent if talent doesn't work hard everytime. He is a young man with great abilities. I really wish him the best but the way he acts sometimes is only hurting himself and his team. He has a long way to go with high school sports; just hope he don't let it pass him bye with a lot of regrets.
