Stuff like this, is what im getting at. Wireman say's they beat a top 20 team and then you come off with Jeff Demling blog saying they weren't even a top 25 team. You did go on to congratulate EC on the win. But you had to belittle them first.

 

Wireman and myself always give eachother a hard time. It's nothing against eachother's team and we aren't trying to belittle either team (EC or Holmes), just having a little fun with one another.

 

As you said, I went on to give EC their props and say it was a good win. How is that being negative toward them?

 

I think you may be reading too much in to my posts chief. It's really not that serious. I've said over and over I respect EC and love the way they play, and ANY EC fan who has talked to me privately will be the first to tell you this.

I'm from Elliott County and I like to root for my team. If they do good, I like people to know it.

I haven't said once in any thread that EC is #1. However, they have been ranked there.

I think Holmes is right there with them. Scott Co. and Jeffersontown are right behind them.

Hey nothing wrong with you wanting people to know it. I'm the same way with Holmes during basketball season and Highlands during football season.

 

I understand EC has a once in a lifetime team right now and that's exciting for the EC faithful considering how far they've come over the past few years.

I seen Anderson a lot in the 8th Region. I'm a huge fan of Glen Drury, who I think is one of the most underrated coaches in the state. And this team AC has is very versatile, and playing HUNGRY. I saw them whip Oldham County on Friday night, the night before they played Elliott. They're very impressive in most phases of the game.

 

I believe Anderson is capable of beating just about any team in the state on any given night...but a team that shoots 58% at the line is going to lose a lot of close games. (as they did when they lost to J-town by 2 after hitting 5 of 15 free throws)

You say Holmes is right there with them? I would say right now Holmes is above them. I'd still say Scott Co. is also and im not sure about J' Town. EC is very good, but they don't play the top teams in the state that Holmes and Scott Co. play.

I didn't say refs were terrible I just thought every close or judgement call went to EC. My point is there was 5 not 1 but 5 charge/block calls and everyone of them went in favor of EC. That is a fact I was there. EC is good but number 2 I don't know about. They have a huge problem rebounding when the other team has size I heard AC out rebounded them 44-25. EC might have the best trio of guards in state though, either them or J-town.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I was there too and saw lots of pushing/shoving, walking, over-the-back etc that were not called on the AC boys. If EC got a couple of calls it didn't nearly make up for the calls that didn't get called against AC.

The Anderson crowd has a unique perspective right now...the Bearcats have tangled with three top 5 teams (they lost by 2 to Jtown, 15 to Scott County, and in OT to Elliott County).

 

In talking with my friends in Lawrenceburg, they told me that they were VERY impressed with EC. They also said that, if they were to rank the three teams, they would rank them Scott / Jeffersontown / Elliott County. And the consensus was that Scott was SIGNIFICANTLY better.

 

My thought is that the debate is splitting hairs at this point: The bottom line is, Elliott County is GOOD. This was a great win for the Lions. Great teams find ways to win over top-caliber opponents, even when everything isn't going your way (i.e., rebounds). We'll all get to find out just how good when March rolls around.

C.M Elliott gets outrebounded a lot of games because they are almost always the smaller team. They do however win most of the games they get outrebounded in. From what I was told(by one of the stat-keepers) their worst problem was a cold shooting first half. He said they shot right at their normal FG% in second half and outscored AC by 16 counting the OT.

That sounds to me what likely happened. That is why they lost to Cedar Hill, as well :thumb:
