So I guess we all know who the Bowling Green papers voted for right?? None of those teams listed made it past the second round of the playoffs...hmmm...

 

Uh, Warren East's Shenard Holton holds 9 DI-A or DI-AA offers and has committed to Louisville. Who would you put over him?

 

Bowling Green's Jay Beard will be a bigger recruit next year than anyone on the Second Team or Honorable Mention list. Who would you put over him?

 

What does a team's record have to do with it? I thought All State was based on individual player performance? Sounds like sour grapes to me.

I am right there with you! The AP just covers certain areas and alot of great kids do not get recognized. Kids in rural areas never get any recognition from the AP.

 

This is one of the worse things I have ever seen! Richardson played a tough 5A schedule and no one could stop him. The AP just does not cover mountain teams. Sounds like we are not the only ones on here that feel this way, just look where most of the kids are from.

 

Just so you know, the AP doesn't "cover" any high school sports (except the state championships). All the AP does is count the votes from its subscriber organizations (newspapers, TV and radio stations).

 

If this slight is that important to you or anyone else, go talk to your local newspaper and ask them why they don't subscribe to the AP so that your local kids can get voted on for this team. You probably won't like what you hear, but it's simple economics.

Player performance isn't as important as the fact that BG is a large city (at least, by Kentucky's standards) that has several AP member outlets. Bigger cities = more media outlets = more AP votes.

 

Not saying the guys you listed are undeserving, but if they played for, say, Clinton County or Leslie County, they would struggle to get votes as well, no matter how gaudy their stats were.

How can Hunter Adams of Middlesboro be a finalist for the Mr. Football award, and not even be a honorable mention?

I've found the BGP All-State team to be the most credible.

Pleased to see 3 Bell Co. Bobcats on the AP team.

 

As a bunch others on here I have complaints as well. If there is 8 DL better than Bell's Harbin I would love to see theml!!!! He is one of the better ones I have seen in a long time.

 

Also how can the RB from Rockcastle not be on it somewhere. He lead the team in rushing and tackles for the past two seasons.

I've found the BGP All-State team to be the most credible.

 

I don't view it with anymore credibility than the AP, CJ, or HL. There will be just as many people upset with all the other All State lists just like they are with the AP.

Cannot believe that Ryan Wiliamas of GRC did not even make honorable mention.... Mid way throught the season he was the leading rusher in the state and then got hurt in the Henry Clay game.

George Rogers Clark senior Ryan Williams was named player of the year as voted on by the coaches in the Kentucky Football Coaches Association.

Williams will receive the award during the Class 6A state finals this weekend in Louisville.

Williams finished the season with 2,003 yards rushing, shattering the school’s single-season mark set by former Clark standout Eric Clay. Clay collected 1,815 yards in 15 games during the Cards’ state championship run in 1991.

“He had an outstanding year,” Clark coach Paul Columbia said.

Williams is being recruited by Eastern and Western Kentucky and will likely pay a visit to Western in January

Are you saying he would've accounted for an average of 200 more yards per game on top of what he got in his final five games?

I wish I could have been the first to post on this thread and simply say, let the complaining begin. I'm sure some other equally big mistakes will be made on the coaches team and then BGP will have its own version. In the end some players are going to get left off unfairly, and some players will get left off because they aren't as good as hometown joe thinks they are.

I can't believe Mark Kelly didn't at least get mentioned!
