I saw Collinsworth play and he is the real deal and I hope to see him in a UK uniform. I think what people are saying had he played in a rural area of the the state, he would have not got a look with these numbers even though he is a legit D1 player and deserves the award.

 

I think that if I am a journalist and I see his name on the list and I see he is a wide receiver, just like his father, and that he plays for Highlands, that I am going to vote for him because he is obviously a great talent(it's in his genes) and he plays for one of the greatest football traditional schools in the state. I wouldn't need to see his stats. I already know how good he is because of his last name and AND his high school. If he played for a school in the rural area of the state he wouldn't even be associated with his dad because we all know Chris Collinsworth wouldn't live in a rural Kentucky area, he would live in a suburb of Cincinnati. I think the name recognition goes with his last name and the school.

 

And no, I am not trying to take anything away from AC, he is obviously a great player, but a little logic and common sense will let you know that it wasn't the stats that got him onto the 1st team.

Maybe the AP should just start doing all state teams by classes and then everyone will be happy, BUT I doubt it.

19 media guys just doesn't cut it for me. I am afraid name recognition and politicking by certain coaches play a role way to much in the AP in this state.

Why is the Tight End position not designated?

I don't see any tight end types in these selections, maybe there are and I just don't recognize the names. It's going to be tough for a tight end to have enough catches to match wide out numbers and get selected as just a 'receiver'. I would think that their dual role of blocking and receiving would make them a seperate selection. What's the deal?

Anything less than that does not reflect the true caliber of these two giants. There are no other programs even close to these two giants. St X has three players and Trinity only 1. Trinity wins the state championship and only has one player on the AP all state first team. I don't have a clue what these voters are looking at. Trinity beats all teams in the State by at least four touchdowns with the exception of St X whom they beat in a rematch.

You won't see him in a UK uniform, they don't recruit NKY players but UC does!!!

Colt McCoy was Big 12 Player of the Year and second team All Big 12.

Perhaps it would just be easier if AP names everyone from Trinity and St. X as all-state and then have another designation for "All-State (But Not As Good) Non-Trinity/X Players."

Austin Collinsworth had 45 receptions for 793 yards and 5 touchdowns. I understand name recognition means a lot. But on the other hand, some people will never give him credit because of his name. It is definitely a double edged sword.

 

He is definitely all state, saw him against Whitley, great player on team full of them and he stands out.

Rule 13

The proof is in the pudding regarding talent. Trinity and St X have dominated Kentucky Football since 1962. Check out the state championships won by these two schools during that time frame. Simply put they are the best two teams in this state by a HUGE margin. No one is even close. If thats the case then they have the best players as well. Typically the State Champion has several players on the team and this year Trinity only had one player.

 

Opinions dont count however championships do. Outstanding players making great plays in clutch situations lead to championships. To me that defines an all state player. The best game in the state every year is the Trinity St X game and they play twice.

 

Hard work, dedication and teamwork build character. I think Kentucky should be proud to have these two schools and these young men representing the commonwealth. My hat is off to both schools. Now lets give them some individual honors as well. However the state championship ring is enough of a prize for anyone
