  1. Six A Trinity Five A Highlands Four A UP for Grabs Three A Central Two A Fort Campbell One A Danville Six, Five and three A are repeats for certain. While Central and Fort Campbell have too many athletes for the competition. Small state with power concentrated in a few schools. Tradition Tradition Tradition. Hard to pick against proven winners year in and year out.:dancingpa
  2. The all state team represents the best players at their position. Its not a recruiting list for potential D1 talent. There is a difference between potential and demonstrated ability. Many D1 recruits never see an all state team
  3. Louisville by far. Population and tradition. Two powerhouses in X and T plus Male, Ballard, Central, Manual, Eastern etc. Not counting the up and coming Oldham County Schools. Louisville is a growing metropolitian city with a huge population of athletes. NKY football is good but I would have expected that Lexington would be in the mix somewhere. Nuff said
  4. He should be a Florida Gator since his Dad is an alumnus of the university.
  5. The proof is in the pudding regarding talent. Trinity and St X have dominated Kentucky Football since 1962. Check out the state championships won by these two schools during that time frame. Simply put they are the best two teams in this state by a HUGE margin. No one is even close. If thats the case then they have the best players as well. Typically the State Champion has several players on the team and this year Trinity only had one player. Opinions dont count however championships do. Outstanding players making great plays in clutch situations lead to championships. To me that defines an all state player. The best game in the state every year is the Trinity St X game and they play twice. Hard work, dedication and teamwork build character. I think Kentucky should be proud to have these two schools and these young men representing the commonwealth. My hat is off to both schools. Now lets give them some individual honors as well. However the state championship ring is enough of a prize for anyone
  6. I would think that St X and Trinity should dominate the ALL State Team. I would expect no less than 11 players from these schools would make the all state team. Anything less than that does not reflect the true caliber of these two giants. There are no other programs even close to these two giants. St X has three players and Trinity only 1. Trinity wins the state championship and only has one player on the AP all state first team. I don't have a clue what these voters are looking at. Trinity beats all teams in the State by at least four touchdowns with the exception of St X whom they beat in a rematch. Best talent in the state by far is Trinity
  7. Hate to say it but the cannon's gotta go. Few years ago I almost had a heart attack when hat cannon fired. I was not aware of the tradition. It was very intimidating and I can only imagine what our players thought at the time. Highlands plays in an odd setting with the stadium backing up against the school. Loads of tradition already there combine that with the cannon and its really an imposing force. I can understand why the Bluebirds want to keep it. However I cannot imagine how the school board will allow this now that this tragedy has occurred. Even if an injury occurs one in ten thousand shots its not worth it and you know an accident will occur sooner or later. Cannon's gotta go too dangerous
  8. My prediction is TRINITY 63 and SK 7 Trinity and ST X are in 7A and by far and away the best programs by FAR in the state of kentucky. The state championship game was played last week when Trinity upset St X. There is no doubt Kentucky has two of the finest football programs in the country in St X and Trinity Trinity routs Simon Kenton and demonstrates Louisville area's dominance in big boy football If this were a college game there would be a no liner.
  9. I have lived in seven different southern states in the USA and have never yet seen such a dominance in a sport as is found here in the Commonwealth of Kentucky regarding St. Xaiver and Trinity High Schools in football. At one time there were other teams that could challenge Trinity or St X for the title but now it seems there is no one close to doing that. If you look at the scores of the games of these teams with other 6 A schools other than themselves the scores are not even close. The last time Trinity was challenged was Brohms senior year in HS and he lost to Seneca and Manual but beat St X in the reg season and the title game. Although Belfry and Central dominate three A, and Highlands 5 A there are no other programs close to the dominance of Trinity or St X. The enrollment of these schools are not enormous but they seem to generate a tremendous amount of football players. There is not a significant number of D1 candidates from either of these programs but yet they dominate. I dont know why they are so dominate but they are. Its not even close. Its like two college teams playing high school teams. What is the secret? Someone should write a book on these two. These two giants are way beyond any other team in this state. They should be playing Upper Level Ohio, Florida, Texas, California , Georgia and Alabama teams. I would like to see both of these teams schedule some big name teams from outside the State consistently other than the Cincy Catholic teams.
  10. 56 to 0 Cobble, Ridge and crew way too much. Central on its way to a rematch with Belfry at PJS
  11. With the loss of Gohman and a banged up QB at ETown I predict a Central romp. Central should have all their studs back in for this game and has had an easier route to the regional final as compared to ETOWN. ETOWN has a great passing attack but needs number 84. Central has more athletes and has the state crown on their head. I don't see Central being challenged until the championship game against Belfry. Central wins big 42 to 14
  12. I believe NOHS has the kids in the middle schools but are losing some to the private school. I think the kids would be better served playing on a NOHS team rather than sitting on the bench at the high end private schools. I think the current economic crisis might benefit OC schools since that ten thousand dollar per year tution might become uneconomically feasible during this depression slash recession especially should Ford file bankruptcy. Save that money for college and get an equal or better education in the OC school system especially at NOHS which has an outstanding academic program second to none in the state of Kentucky.
  13. Well the season ended for the Mustangs last night in Goshen. The final score does not reflect just how close this game really was. With 4 minutes to go, North was down by only 7 points and drove the ball inside the 20 of Etown. With 2 minutes to go, Maddox was intercepted. Both teams played a hard game. North should be congratulated for their efforts. Coach Martin and staff have built a program at North to be proud of. This group of seniors have seen it all. Every player played with heart tonight. The quarterback for Etown is for real. His quick release was something to watch. That young man will be playing on Saturdays and I look to Etown to surprise Central in the next round. To this class of seniors and their parents, you brought pride back to this school and this football program. As a parent of a senior player, I couldn't be more proud. The scoreboard doesn't reflect the heart of this team. I wouldn't have changed a thing this year. You all left it all on the field until the final whistle blew--you couldn't have asked for more. I look forward to watching what Coach Martin and staff will do next season.
  14. This has been a great year for the Mustangs. From humble 0-10 beginnings on a middle school football field to a 9-1 record on a beautiful new football complex; the Mustangs are starting to believe! There is still a chip on their shoulder and that is what they will need to play that tough Etown team. We have a stingy defense and a very talented offensive and more importantly I don't feel the team has given their "all out" yet this year and this may be the night that it happens. For both teams, my heart goes out to the seniors, no one wants to hang up their cleats and no one wants this season to end. I pray for no injuries on both teams and may the best team win!!!
  15. Looking for a Great Game next week between the ETown bombers and the NOHS Mustangs. Hope to see a big shootout. Outlook for weather though is bad. Looks like the field might be really really muddy and sloppy due to excessive rain in the area. We should have very very strong cross winds blowing and a driving rain storm. Bring your umbrellas and coats for a very rainy, cold and muddy game. Make sure that you bring boots to tromp through all the mud. New stadium and new turf. Doesnt drain well and condusive to becoming very muddy and sloppy. I am sure the grass needs to be watered a lot this week to make sure that it is in good shape for the game
  16. NOHS cornerback Jakob Manor laid a vicious hit on Moores Wideout number 5 in the second half. I peered through my scope and noticed the young man bent over many times at mid field hurling. Hope that young man is okay he looked to be in great pain. Mustangs led 42 to zip at half and it could have been 56 to zip easily. NOHS needs to have a great game plan and bring the heat this week against a very very tough ETOWN team. ETOWN brings a great passing game and NOHS will have to bring great pressure to stop this attack. Lets see if the NOHS defensive line can get up this week and bring the pressure on ETOWN quarterback Michael Thomas and wide out Chris Gohman. NOHS is working on a three year turn around led by Coach Billy Martin. Martin has led NOHS for 0 and 10 in 06 to 8 and 4 in 07 and 10 and 1 today. What most folks dont know is this mustang team in 06 only had 1 senior and was loaded with Sophs and Freshman. The 2006 team played four teams that went to the state semifinals in different classifications. Danville, Frankfort, Mercer County were three of the toughest teams this squad has ever faced as well as the 2006 South Oldham team that was loaded. This team has faced tremendous adversity over the last three years. It is the hope of each and every Mustang parent that these young men are able to truimph against the likes of ETOWN and if they are fortunate enough to do that then against that powerhouse Central Team. Especially after what Central did to a very good Henry County team. Lets go Mustangs we are building tradition for all future Mustangs. You are building a strong foundation for generations of Mustangs to come.
  17. Bullit Central started out hot on a long pass play to open the game and ended up on the NOHS 3 yard line after the runner fell down. Next play BCHS fumbled and NOHS took advantage of the turnover driving 95 yards for a TD and taking the lead 7 zip. NOHS held BCHS on the ensuing kickoff and promptly got the ball back. NOHS dominated the first half and took a 14 to 0 lead deep into the second quarter. BCHS was not to be denied and on the ensuing short kickoff after the second NOHS touchdown BCHS drove the ball fifty yards for a touchdown cutting the gap to 14 - 7. NOHS had the ball with one minute and thirty seconds to go in the half and on the BCHS twenty and driving for a score. NOHS turned the ball over on an interception and BCHS took over with under one minute to play. BCHS speed took over from there. BCHS receiver scored on the last play of the game on an impressive 80 yard pass play with the majority of the gain being made by an impressive number 23 of BCHS. This play ended the half with BCHS tying the game fourteen all. What could have been a 21 to 7 lead for NOHS at half ended up being a 14 all tie at half. BCHS offensive speed dominated the second half even though NOHS scored first in the second half on a Paul Altoff field goal to take a 17 to 14 lead. BCHS took the lead shortly afterwards with a Bennet touchdown 21 to 17. NOHS finally shutdown BCHS and had the ball at the end of the game trying to desparately move the ball ninety yards for the winning touchdown. The mustangs were denied by a tough Cougar defense and the depth of BCHS finally wore the Mustangs down. This was a great tuneup for the Mustangs heading into next weeks game with KCD and then the state playoffs. No doubt the Mustangs seriously miss their all conference tackle and linebacker Spencer Gooch. Gooch was seriously missed tonight with these BCSH backs. The mustangs fought hard tonight but lost to a team that out performed them tonight. Mustangs should be healed for the playoffs and looking forward to a great season. Coach Martin and his staff have done a great job preparing the Mustangs each week. Mustangs turnovers and missed tackles on open field Cougar runners were the downfall tonight. Good luck in the playoffs BCHS Cougars and Go Mustangs:dancingpa
  18. WE "Competed" last year. We lost in overtime. What is so different this year.
  19. I think Coach Billy Martin from North Oldham should be considered. Coach Martin is in his third year. The first year, he went 0-10, last year we went 8-4 and so far this year, the Mustangs are undefeated. To take a team from winless to currently undefeated, I think takes an amazing coach and Coach Martin should be considered.
  20. WOW! Congratulations to a great North Oldham Football team, To those players who stuck with it when your record was 0-10 just two short years ago---I say BRAVO. Coach Martin and staff has instilled a belief that this team can contend with anyone. This is truly a "Band of Brothers". They have fought in the trenches, been battle tested and NEVER, NEVER gave in. I think this team has a good chance of going undefeated. Next week, they will face a very good 6A Bullitt Central team that we lost to in overtime last year. No matter the outcome next week, who ( 2 years ago) thought that being District Champs was a possibility (nobody but the coaches and these players). I commend you and can't wait for the next game.
  21. North has executed well in all phases of the game with the exception of the Kickoff team. Thats no small matter since running back a kick is HUGE momentum swing especially if it happens to you when you are on the road. The Henry Game was a HUGE emotional win for NOHS and proved to the team that the could beat a legitimate State Championship contender. If these four teams dont beat each other up before the playoffs I would not be surprised to see two of these teams in the Regional finals. Its a very tough match up with Central and ETOWN matching up with this bunch but I think its very possible. North plays with great focus and execution. Maddox is a clutch qb and can beat you with his arm and his legs. Gears has great hands, Alward can run, and Tuller what can you say. He runs the kickoff back for a TD last night at a CRUCIAL point and puts us up with a few minutes left. This is after Spencer gained the momentum after the had just taken the lead. Tuller also open field tackled Kollemberg last week in the last minute of the game when he broke from and was running for the game winning score (less than one minute remaining) These Seniors were 0-10 as Sophmores but played the toughest schedule in the state that year (Frankfort, Danville, Mercer,Bethleham, Unbelievebale scheudule. This team is a product of the Martin Chappal Braintrust. These kids demonstrate character, poise, and strength. These are all traits instilled by the coaching staff. North has a great bunch of parents and they have followed these kids all the way from when they were 0 and 10. No more One Year Wonder talk any more. This is the beginning of a Mustang tradition that could run for years. As long as Martin is at the helm of NOHS they have a chance to build tradition nuff said
  22. North Oldham defeated Spencer County tonight at Spencer County. This was a barn burner. North started the scoring off in the first quarter 7 to zip. Spencer then matched up score for score. Score was 14 all at halftime. Teams traded scores in the third quarter with the score 21 all at the end of three quarters. The difference was the kicking game. North blocked a punt that resulted in a shortened field and touchdown but the extra point was blocked. North led 27 to 21 in the fourth. Spencer followed with excellent field position on the onsuing kickoff and some big penalties. SC drove in for the TD in the fourth, kicked the extra point and led 28 to 27 with less than five minutes in the game. Here is where big time athletes make the difference. Spencer kicked off deep to North where Andrew Tuller fielded the kick on his five yard line. Tuller broke behind the wedge, squirted free, cut to the sidelines and outran the entire Spencer team. North went for two and failed. Score was 33 to 28 at that point. North held Spencer County sacking the quarter back and forcing them into long yardage conversion. North defense stood the test and held Spencer on four downs. North took over with 52 seconds left and ran the clock out. Spencer played an outstanding game against North. This is the fourth tough game in a row for North. CAL, Henry, South Oldham and Spencer. Finally we get a home game next week against Trimble followed by Western Hills. Billy Martin gets a HUGE win at Spencer and this sets the table for the District Showdown in two weeks at North against Western Hills. This tough schedule is making this a stronger team. The long weeks in the weight room under Beano Chapel and Martin for the last two years are paying dividends now. This team is poised to make a deep run in the playoffs if they can stay healthy. A winning attitude has been built by Martin in three short years. North in 3 A and Oldham in 5A will make a strong showing for the County overall this year. Hats off to the Mustangs in defeating Spencer tonight on their field. Spencer is MUCH better than their record. :dancingpa
