I'm leaning toward cremation myself, but like 2C says, whatever makes my family comfortable.

Of course if you move from one cemetary to another you have to get the permit from the state.

 

I bet the KHSAA wouldn't allow it.

 

If it is another district I guess it could ruin your eleigbility, but you are actually moving and I have always thought of a grave plot as a piece of real estate, although very small, so I don't see why they wouldn't allow it.

I know that different people grieve differently, but I never understood the whole loooong funeral process. Having someone come and look at me for hours in a a funeral home dead in a casket is creepy. This followed by a long church service and then to be buried in a cemetery for all eternity.....no thanks! I have been to too many funerals and they seem to be one more painful thing that the loved ones have to endure.

 

I know some people get closure from that, but not me.

 

I agree with Watusi, funerals are big business. I dont want my family wasting money on that kind of thing.

 

Cremate me, have a brief prayer service (cause I am definately going to need that), and then a big party celebrating my life. Spread my ashes somewhere fun.

I want to be cremated. My kids are for some reason dead set against it. They think they wouldn't be able to "visit" me. :lol: I told them I'm dead at that point, so I'd be long past the point of nagging them because they didn't visit, and frankly, I'd probably have gotten over it by then.

 

I figure they'll each get a larger inheritance of my paltry estate if they just throw me in the fire. Then, they can each have half my ashes to sprinkle over their gardens, put on their mantle, or they can throw them out the car window if they want. :lol:

Cremated for me please. I could never spend eternity in a box.

 

BTW, I'm terrified of dying. I love my life, love living, and do not ever want to die.

Great answer. My grandpa's ashes are sprinkled at the finish line at River Downs. The man went there every day of his adult life. He's where he wants to be......

Not that I care to even think of such a thing, but you might be more comfortable there. You seem to get thrown into the fire on a regular basis as it is.

I will be buried in my families cemetary out in the country. I can't stand the thoughts of being cremated. I have spent most of my adult life trying to keep things from burning, and I won't let the "monster" have the last laugh.

You know, you can still have the viewing for your family and then be cremated after the funeral service. There are caskets that are made for this. Then your ashes can be buried and you don't have to buy a cemetery plot. You can bury them on someone elses grave, put a small headstone of marker at the foot of the grave and then your family still has a place to "visit", leave flowers, etc...

Yeah, you have to have a permit to move a grave. So much for Resting In Peace.

 

Some of the reasons family wants a grave to be moved: 1) If the family has moved far away, they may want to move the grave so they can be closer when they visit. 2) Family feuds. If there are say 3 children of the deceased & 2 of them want to move their loved one to another cemetery because they are mad at the other sister/brother. 3) And a not so common reason: Over the summer, a woman came down from Ohio (to SEKY) and said she would like to have her mother dug up. The reason being was because she was like 25 years old and Her mother died (got shot) when she was just a little baby. She said she wanted to see her mom because she obviously couldn't remember her from when she was just a baby. She got us to open the vault/casket up (that had been in the ground for some 25 years). The vault was still in fairly decent shape, all besides the carrying handles which had rusted away. We pried the vault open and opened the casket. The woman was all bones except for her hair which was still perfect like it probably was when she was put in the casket. The daughter ordered a new casket and vault & we drove the body to Ohio & reburied it.

 

That story is unbelievably gross. Do she not have 1 photo album?

I remember hearing of several unmarked graves being found during the construction of the Industral Park here in Greenup County. I know that they moved the remains, but as to where, I have no idea. I also wonder if they were ever identified.
