Are you talking playoffs? CovCath beat Scott last week 49-12!

Ask Jim Mora about the playoffs.

I am going to going to go way out limb but I think it is a real possibilty that both Scott and Holmes beat Covcath. The early slide by the Covcath QB I believe is due to him looking at the yard markers incorrectly thinking he already had the first down or maybe he just wanted to practice his punting. He needs a lot of punting practice.

Here is a shot from the game:

42 just wanted to hit somebody. He didn't have to . He already had the TD .

Had very little to do with coaching tonight IMO. It was simply men against boys. One team was faster, hit harder, and flat out whipped the other.

Solid prediction considering CCH walked all over Scott last week, does 49-12 ring a bell?

And other than speed, aren't those the things that coaches instill in their players!

Question HHS fans?

Lets switch teams! Give Coach Brossart the HHS talented players and Coach Mueller the CovCath team! Now answer truthfully, does a Coach Mueller team get down by a score of 55-0 at half time and then lose by a score of 61-0?

I don't think so. If John Rodenburg and his coaching staff had never left CCH and continued the program on its path at the time, the game ends something like this: HHS 42 CCH 20 (Not disgracing the whole program)

Final Comment: CCH will never again beat Highlands with Brossart as their head coach, plain and simple. Elder's JV may be able to beat Cov Cath (Varsity) by 3/4 touchdowns and, unfortunately, I wish I were kidding....Highlands (2/3 team) could have won this one by 2 TD's if played tonight....

It is easy for Highlands fan to suggest that it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with coaching. With all due respect, I respect the HHS football program as the best and most consistent in the NKy area and in the state (relative to their size), but I ask that HHS not comment on Dave Brossart as our coach. You simply do not know the circumstances. There are variations of talent in classes, but there is not that big of a difference between the players Ray/Rodenburg had and Brossart has. Last year Brossart's excuse was lack of experience because the state championship team lost so many starters.. what is the excuse now? The answer is that there can be none because such losses do not occur in our football program. If Mueller coaches CCH through pre-season to this game and vice-versa for Brossart, HHS wins by 10. The coaching would make that big of difference.

Clyde,

I think CCH was playing some 2s on defense at the end but I am not certain. They also had a different QB in some towards the end but the last drive I believe CCH called two time outs with time running out and threw long passes in an attempt to score with what looked like all the 1s.

HHS' 2s have a lot to be proud of on both sides of the ball. They looked hungry and performed well.

They replaced 13 at QB after handing the ball to 46 Newman for a walk in TD. the TD in the 2nd half by HHS was against the 1s including #9

Who do you think took the worst in that collision?

Great pics Guru. Head was definitely co-player of the game IMO. He was all over the field defensively and ran the ball very well last night. Ollie made some great reads after catching screens and just played with crazy desire.

The opening kickoff return sucked the life right out of the CCH boys you could see it as they dejectedly set up their return. Nobody but Collinsworth breaks that off, his acceleration is unbelievable. Highlands did whatever they wanted last night. Everyone played outstanding. The offensive line gave Guidugli plenty of time and paved the way for numerous chunks of yardage. The 2 RB's Fennell and Head really stepped up and showed that they could be stars for other teams in NKY. Unfortunately Conner and Crawford are ahead of them on the depth chart. Fennell is a strong runner who can take a hit and Head just loves to deliver blows. Ollie really has stepped up and played with great enthusiasm last night.

Guidugli showed that all of that hard work in the offseason paid off the way he shagged off tacklers and outran others. He threw a pretty ball to Collinsworth near the end to put the 4th dagger in the Colonels. Who can blame him though, if you are going to stack 8 in the box and leave single coverage on Collinsworth (blitzing Van Sant) then why not take a stab at it.

I dont want to get down on a High School kid but I thought Isler lost the confidence in his offensive unit at some point and I dont think it was after the infamous SLIDE. He was getting drilled most of the night after throws or getting sacked and I think he was frustrated. It looked to me like he may have lost his cool and got away from what his true role is as a QB and that is to lead with valor and confidence. You cant show frustration in a game like that or lose your cool. Also, he is a big boy, he should have ducked his head and taken on the collision to get the 1st down and Im sure he is second guessing just as we all are on this board.

Highlands will not be beat the rest of the year by anybody. NUMBER 18 is coming.

Since the Highlands fans have been asked by a CovCath fan not to comment on the CovCath coaching, I won't. But I will say that I'm one Highlands fan (heck, maybe the only one) that didn't have a problem with the Isler slide. Yes do I think it cost them from getting a first down. But that was a split second decision and it happened. From what I can tell, the kid is a nice young man, out on the field taking a beating, while doing everything within his abilities to help his team win. I'll take that from a kid as a coach, a fan and a parent every Friday night.

And honestly I didn't see one single CovCath player quit on the field last night. They kept trying to the end and I want to commend them for that.:thumb: Hang in there young men. Its going to be a bumpy road. There are going to be a lot of people questioning your abilities, your talent, your leadership, your coaches; you must not listen to them, but rather pull together closer as a team; you must turn to one another, not against one another. Adversity is when leadership and character are displayed and tested. I have confidence that these CovCath kids and coaches will answer the challenge.

Now on to Highlands: fantastic job boys. I hate to start naming specific players because EVERY Highlands player did exceptionally well, but I have to point out several in my post.

On D I thought Blake Newman played the game of his life. Not only the interception for a td, but all the tackles he made. Ollie Head again had some fantastic hits. Pass coverage was exceptional by everyone. Kudos Bardo, Collinsworth, Head, Hogue and Buten. LBing crew again played superb. As did the D line. Rosenhagen, Dierig, Welz and Beck did a great job of not only shutting down the run, but keeping pressure on Isler all night.

On O, I thought our O line did a fantastic job. No disrespect intended to the CovCath O line, but tonight demonstrated which O line was the better one. Kudos to Coach Turner for again turning out another exceptional O line. Nick Martin did a great job filling in for Grubbs. I know that Nick would have rather played LBer in this game, but he answered the call and performed fantastically. There were some serious hits being layed by the O linemen. Dempsey, Schlosser, Combs and Bardgett (along with Martin tonight) are really coming together well. Not only were there big holes for the running backs, Guidugli had a whole lot of time to pass the ball. And pass the ball he did, doing so very well to Roller (who had several clutch receptions on drag routes) and to Collinsworth. Hogue also had a clutch 4th down reception for a first down. I think it was our third td, on which drive we had several penalties that kept setting us back, that really impressed me. But the O persevered and kept converting for first downs and eventually a td. In my opinion, it was the most impressive drive of the first half. Head and Fennell again showed why at almost every high school in the state they would be starting running backs.

Special teams were superb. On the couple of kickoffs that Rosenhagen didn't make the endzone, the coverage was exceptional. Nothing to say about punt coverage because it didn't happen. Because of CovCath's plan to punt the ball away from Collinsworth towards the sideline, there weren't many opportunities for the punt return squad to show its stuff last night. And of course our one kickoff return to start the game was exceptional. Just a great return by Collinsworth made possible by exceptional blocking by the kick return squad.

And I was very proud of the back ups in the second half. Great blocking and some exceptional running for Spencer Bankamper. I couldn't have been happier for any kid. With all the injuries that young man has persevered through during his football career, he deserved a night like last night, not only running the ball but on D also. Great job Spencer. And the entire D in the second half played well. Just a fantastic job boys. I know the coaches were on your tails after giving up a lot of points to the Dixie starters last week. You all responded extremely well to the coaching and played very well tonight.

Enjoy the victory, but quickly get focused on Hoptown. Go down there and lose to them and the sweetness of last night's victory will turn bitter fast.

I think Holmes has a real opportunity this year.

I thought the same until I saw how they barely handled Scott last night. Now I'm not so sure.
