Highlands 61 Covington Catholic 0

I thought that was funny too. They had a ball disrupting the recognition ceremonies, and taunting our cheerleaders before the game. But by halftime, their numbers had been mysteriously cut by half. By the end of the game, they were down to two rows of about five guys. And they were doing some sort of synchronized activity that looked like they were practicing for a rowing competition. Not sure what that was all about.

I'd be trying to row through invisible water too if my team was getting beat that bad!

Cov Cath needs to get their act together. They are not the powerhouse they once were in football, and their basketball team will struggle this year as well. CCH needs to reestablish their position in the state of Kentucky, and it does not look like it is happening any time soon. At this rate this institution will be at the same athletic caliber as Covington Latin School. Their coaching staffs need to be refreshed for most teams and they need to stop focusing on only the academics and have a little bit of an athletic approach to their systems. The fun and spirit needs to be brought back into this comm:mad:unity.

I will never understand why any team kicks the ball to Collinsworth. Add the fumble on CCH's first possession and CCH was done.

I don't say this often and I hate to say it, but it was a sad display of football by CovCath.

I'm very confused. I remember a lot of reputable people saying this summer that CovCath was going to give Highlands a major run for the money this year. What happened since then???

They didn't pay attention. Not enough returning talent especially on D. Offense lacks overall speed. One stud on the team.

No one though suspected a 55-0 lead at halftime. That's simply unacceptable.

In the span of 12 months we've had 3 of the worse losses in CCH history.

Good point. Can't imagine that run back for 6 to start the game was any part of the game plan, and when the kicker came off the field, he was gettting an earfull from one of the coaches.

1st for me tonite. I have never seen a high school QB slide in the middle of the field to avoid the hit. Can't imagine that went over well in the locker room

I can't believe the above but for the fact that it was mentioned to me by another person. Maybe he got hurt?

How is Cov Cath so bad?

Maybe the Birds are just that good.

The whole 2nd string deserves kudos. That TD march was against CCHs 1s.

The above just raises a lot of questions.

The obvious is the fact that the 2nd team scored on the first team D.

More importantly, why did the CCH 1st string play the entire game? Was the coach trying to humiliate them even more than HHS had already accomplished? Your best player who plays almost every down doesn't deserve a rest when you're down 55?

IMO the coach was trying to make a statement and the statement was "its not me. Its them. Look at them."

Embarrassing and sad.

Could have been much, much worse. Wow...

No kidding. 55 at half and they only score 6 in the entire second half tells you that Dale handled it properly. I assume he's losing interest based on that last two games.

Ohmygawd!

The natives will be restless!

Clyde,

I think CCH was playing some 2s on defense at the end but I am not certain. They also had a different QB in some towards the end but the last drive I believe CCH called two time outs with time running out and threw long passes in an attempt to score with what looked like all the 1s.

HHS' 2s have a lot to be proud of on both sides of the ball. They looked hungry and performed well.

For those there, did the Colonels play hard? I'm OK if its just simply a matter of a lot of talent vs only a little talent. I'm not OK with a lack of effort. I'm hoping it was simply that they didn't have nearly enough talent.

To be quite frank about it, Brossart has turned a program which Rodenburg left in mint condition into a "laughing stock." CCH players, coaches, fans, and alumni will be embarrassed for a long time. It is time for me to swallow my pride and say something I never thought I would say when I was a player two years ago: CCH has the occasional class/ comb of coaches&players that allow them to be competitive with Highlands. That being said, CCH does not compare to Highlands on any level. Highlands could have beat CCH by 100 tonight w/out there starting running back (no exaggeration). The administration at CCH needs to decide what is important RIGHT NOW. This is absolutely shameful. I think it would show a great step of maturity if Coach Brossart acknowledged that he is not suited to be the coach of such a prestigious program. I can no longer pretend that coaching is not the problem, this is horrendous. I believe as I said in a previous post, just because the o-line is 6'2 260 lbs. on average doesnt mean that Brossart has made them players at all. This was showed tongiht. Highlands 3rd string could have beat CCH. This is horrible. This is 20X worse than the playoff lose last year, in that a few plays caused that game to get out of hand and the seniors realized their season was, in fact, over and tanked. This is horrible. I dont know to phrase this any other way. Brossart is lucky if he has his job on Monday. Highlands fans may say it is due to a lack of talent, I do not believe it. Not this bad. Brossart is simply to immature to be the head coach at CCH, I am getting off here now, but will post a thorough critique of the CCH program tomorrow (after this settles in).

Easy on the personal comments towards Coach Brossart.

I agree Coach R had a great two years but CCH was ultra talented at the skilled positions.

Academics have and will continue to be the number one focus of CovCath! It has always been that way and it will continue to always be that way.

As you grow older you will understand that the fun you had playing games was just that, fun but the education you received at CovCath will pay off many, many times throughout your life!
