Highlands 61 Covington Catholic 0

I will never understand why any team kicks the ball to Collinsworth. Add the fumble on CCH's first possession and CCH was done.

I don't say this often and I hate to say it, but it was a sad display of football by CovCath.

And the Coach is the one to whom should be getting his team mentally, and physically ready to play! Correct?

Listen HHS is a super team this year, while CovCath is just a good team this year, but never in all my years of watching CovCath football, have I seen a team so poorly prepared for a game from the first minute to the last. It looks like to me at least, (and if you question me on this then just look at the score) that the players have lost faith in this coaching staff!

Highlands fans: do you think, when everyone comes back, that this team is better than last years?

No. Last year was possibly the best ever. Many more weapons on both sides of the ball

I guarantee Mr. Rowe will handle it after the season is over with...No CovCath team should be getting killed on a regular basis like they have been the past couple years..:eek::eek:

What if he's just partial to his name?? :D:D

Yes, this team has the potential to be better than last year. The backfield IMO is better w/ Josh, Clint, Head, and Fennell. Guidugli is a more polished passer than Cecil and he isn't too bad of a runner either! The Defense is the area where i believe that last year was better.

This is embarassing, Brossart should be gone Monday. I feel horrible saying this but I do not believe a worse coaching job could have been done tonight. Highlands is more talented than CCH, but many do not realize that this is because of the offseason training Dale instills during the offseason. Dale is a great coach. Many alumni are furious. We have an offensive line that averages 6'2-260, Returning starting QB, RB's-Deglow,Deters, WR-Vansant,Robinson and the team does not get past the 50???!!!!!!! Not just Highlands ahead of CCH, they are fading and fading fast as a program.

What I really liked was that on the Highlands Drive right after the CC QB did his slide routine, Tony G. took the ball around the right side, knocked off two tacklers, ran 20 more yards and put a shoulder through the last Cov Cath Defender to bulldoze his way into the endzone! That is how a high school quarterback is supposed to run the ball!!!!

I don't know if that is how a QB is supposed to run. That is definitely how the 4th of 4 Guiduglis run because he has been toughened by 3 older brothers and his father to be one tough hard-nosed kid. His performance at Colerain was inspiring. He had two really tough runs tonight. If you are going to bring him down you are going to pay. He delivers more than he receives plus he throws a pretty deep ball.

This was a hard hitting emotional game. The return & the early fumble were obviously huge. A metaphore for the game might be the feet-first slide by one QB vs the not-to-be denied head first dive for a score by the other. Sideline coaching of the CCH defensive unit during the 1st quarter seamed casual. PVS must have had 100 tackles. CovCath should make it better game next time, but the Birds will have additional weapons to contend with. And yes, education trumps everything else.

And yes, education trumps everything else.

Fortunately both schools provide an excellent education and college preparation for the finest institutions.

Tonight you saw the difference between the commitment levels of the programs. I noticed the physical differences between the Covington Catholic players and the Highland players. The Highlands players appeared more physically developed and it showed in their performance tonight. This game was won by Highlands in the off season. The dive the Covington Catholic QB took before the first down marker said it all.

Congrats to the Birds they definitly deserve to be ranked number 1!

Here is a shot from the game:

One more and we have three on the homepage:

Academics have and will continue to be the number one focus of CovCath! It has always been that way and it will continue to always be that way.

As you grow older you will understand that the fun you had playing games was just that, fun but the education you received at CovCath will pay off many, many times throughout your life!

Unfortunately for Covington Catholic it wasn’t debate night.

CCH's O needs to show up at least a little against good defenses. They've played two tough D's this year and their next point will be their first. You combine that with a D that has given up 57, 30(? NC), 41, and now 61 and that's a bad combo.
