Are you kidding me Cantwell did do good for it being his first real test in a few years... He just does't have anyone that he can count on to catch it time in and time out. The only one close really is trent guy and he dropped a few easy ones today.

Let's face it - U of L scored 2 points (TWO) and UK gave those points to the Cards. I don't think that call made too much of a difference.

 

U.L. was so bad that U.K. had to score for them. (couldn't resist)

I saw nothing in this game to convince me that even if UL had been given the ball, that they would've scored...

Cantwell would have probably thrown a pic or lead them to another 3 and out.

 

Yes, I am having fun with it as last season (LOL), the U.L. fans certainly had taken full advantage of their opportunities to do the same, for a few years there it was relentless.

 

I had a couple of friends come over to watch the game and they left at halftime. I know it had to be the game, because I'm a good host.

UK finally has an SEC defense.

 

The offense is green but the play calling was also vanilla today. Rich, Joker, and Sanders obviously didn't dig deep into the playbook in order to bring Hartline along slowly. They kept the calls simple and he played a fine game. Other than a few over throws, he played a fine game. The safety was a good play on his part. The sack was inevitable and he just took his chances on hoping someone would be in the area that he threw it away. UK will add some more counters and checks at the line by hartline from Pass to run very soon.

 

I'm sure that UK will be clicking on all cylinders by the time they travel to Tuscaloosa. With a young team, confidence and experience will go a long way. Assuming things go as they should, UK will be 4-0 with more time to experiment in the next 3 games. I think most people deep down figured UK would win today but getting this W was huge. 4-0 is a lot better than 3-1.

Hartline was a little iffy today but defense held strong.

I agree with Alabama Larry. I've seen punt returners have much less room to catch a punt. I thought UK got a big break there, and this is coming from a big UK fan.

 

Really? From what I saw on TV, it looked like the football came within a whisker of hitting the helmet of the Cardinal defender (heck, the first time they showed the replay, I thought the ball actually may have hit the helmet), and a defender has to be pretty dang close to a punt returner trying to catch the ball for that to happen.

Kentucky is clearly a better football team than Louisville.

 

For Louisville I was impressed with the defense and thought Beaumont and Anderson looked capable out there. Hunter Cantwell and the offensive play calling was tremendously disappointing.

 

I'm holding a little grain of hope that the extremely hot field conditions played a role in the offensive ineptitude (which was the case for both sides) and that we are better than what we showed.

 

Twelve men on the field after a timeout is inexcusable.

2, Powell clearly interferred with Lyons catching the ball. I've backed it up many times and he was too close. That call is made every time.

The part that Louisville coaches (and fans) should be upset with on the return was that no one (except a lineman) made an honest effort to run Pryor down.

 

ACtually two seniors did, Eric Wood, and Brock Bolen...Brock got a late start.

Still trying to recover from yesterday...that is the hottest game I have ever been to and one of the hottest I have been in my life...I got so hot in the 2nd quarter that I had to go find some shade...While sitting in the shade I saw a fan being hauled out on a stretcher about every 5 minutes it seemed.

 

Put me in the category that the Cats got a huge break on the "halo penalty" on the Lyons punt return...I agree you never know what happens if the Cats don't catch that break...Thats part of the game though.

Could someone post the rule on the "halo penalty." What exactly does it say?

I don't see it. Hartline was solid & played smart, nothing flashy, but solid. He will get better and with the 2 5-stars QB's coming in next year, no way would I do Cobb like that. I like it like it is until Hartline plays bad. I think he is gutsy and will work very hard with the offense to get it better. And like I said, he played smart. I worshipped Woodson, still do, but he would have been sacked a few times yesterday where Hartline played within himself and got rid of the ball. The safety wasn't his fault, it was the O-lines....

I agree, he threw several passes so wobbly my mom could throw with more zip on it than that. (But, after all, my mom is one helluva woman....LOL)

I am under the impression that the halo penalty no longer existed, I will look.
