Kentucky 27 Louisville 2

Featured Replies

I haven't read all 5 pages, but that interference call was correct. The UK player had alligator arms because the UL player was so close.

Either way, as someone said above, it is downright frightening how quickly things have gone downhill for the Cardinals. Yes, every program is going to have ebbs and flows, but my goodness the Cardinals don't look capable of winning the Patriot League, let alone the Big East.

Honestly, it shouldn't be surprising if you've followed the off-season troubles this year. The roots are before Coach K's time. His in a position similar to what Coach Brooks faced upon his arrival at UK, without the NCAA sanctions. Coach Brooks has done a FANTASTIC job rebuilding UK's program, and restoring it's integrity. I think Coach Kragthorpe is the guy to do the same at UL, and I'm glad he's here, W's or no W's.

:thumb: Pryor sure has some wheels:lol:

The part that Louisville coaches (and fans) should be upset with on the return was that no one (except a lineman) made an honest effort to run Pryor down.

Bolen got closer to him than the lineman did.

Bottom line football is about Jim's and Joe's and UL doesn't have any. The overall talent of this team is bad. Recruiting needs to get stepped up and get back down to Fla.

Attention Coach K: Nice kids are good for you program, they help your overall GPA. But they also get you fired. Go get you some liquor drinkers. They make plays.

That's terrible.

Those liquor drinkers may win you some ball games, but they'll eventually get you fired and leave your team on probation.

I'm with some of the other posters on here. I love to win, but I'd rather do it the right way. UL is seeing right now what happens when you sacrifice too much to win.

What happened to Cantwell? All I was hearing from (some) UL fans was he was ready for this, his turn to shine, he's got experience...

Cantwell did ok, I put just as much blame on the receivers as I do him.

In regards to Louisville's unclockably fast fall from grace:

There's actually a theory on this that many of us have heard of (especially if you've read or seen Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton): Chaos Theory. The slightest changes can lead to much greater ones in a very short amount of time.

Specifically, in The Lost World, they referred to changes in behavior that may have lead to the extinction of the dinosaurs, moreso than some silly meteorite. I won't bother going through all the details on it, but that seems to mirror the case of UofL football.

But I doubt it will take 65 million years for UofL to make a comeback.

That makes it even sweeter then. :D:D

I agree with you. When U of L was claiming to be one of college footballs elite (), we didn't read about all of the excuses that now are in practically every post.

I'm very curious about those who are blaming this on Petrino. I don't recall him having these problems.

Also for the Petrino haters, what was your opinion of the Tubby to BCG transition at UK? :D

On the game:

Loved UK's D.

Hope Joker was just being conservative on O because he could be.

The interference call was close, but correct.

The horse collar rule is stupid.

The late hit on UofL was wrong.

As a UK fan i was impressed with Victor Anderson, and Doug Beumont of UL. Beaumont took some shots from the UK D.

As for UK, I have to say one thing. Hartline couldn't throw an accurate deep ball. That frustrated me.

Moving away or not, I've seen the replay and the UofL player's feet were within a foot of Lyons. Let me stand a foot away from you and see if you can extend your arms out well enough to catch a football that you probably can't even see coming at you...

Please tell me how someone who is smaller that 6' tall standing in front of you can block the view of a ball soaring through the air. Lyons didn't get touched, the ball didn't get touched, he just flat out dropped it and it was a bad call. Just because Lyons messed up doesn't mean he was interfered with.

Just got back from the game...A few thoughts:

-First off, BIG hats of to UK's defense. They played mistake free, hard nosed football. They didn't hardly give up anything to the UL offense.

-I could not be more proud of UL's defense today....They played GREAT football today. I cant tell you how excited i was to see that fire back on the defensive side of the ball. 63 yards (i think) rushing to a team that was supposed to have an awesome backfield...I'll take it. Everyday.

-Turnovers. Lots of folks thought it would be an ugly game, and it was, especially for the UL offense. Cant give the ball up 5 times and expect to win any game.

-I thought the officiating was very good actually, minus the interference call on the punt.

-Doug Beaumont and Victor Anderson played HARD today. Very proud of them.

-Hunter Cantwell (rant time ) I will be the very first to say that Hunter Cantwell made me look like an idot today... I will take a double serving of crow on that one. I had full confidence that he would be able to direct the offense this afternoon, and I was wrong. Bad throws ALL day, poor decisions on where to throw the ball, taking entirely too much time to throw the ball (which can be attributed to UK's defense). He just wasnt getting the job done today, in any way. And what made it worse for me, it seemed to me that the offense quit in the 4th Quarter. Unaccepetable.

In the end, all that really needs to be said is that UK's defense won them the game, no doubt. The better team won today, and my hats off to the UK coaching staff and team for a job well done. Congrats Cats fans. :thumb:

I will resist the urge and just say thanks for being a good sport. Man it was hot out there today.

:sleep::sleep::sleep:

It appears that UK finally has a legitimate "SEC" defense. Unfortunately, it developed a year late :thumb:

I have been trying to tell everyone about how good this D would be this year, but don't give up on the offense just yet. It will take a few game to get untracked but they will be fine.

This was one of the worst games I have watched in quite a while. It's going to be a very, very long year for both teams.

Cantwell was obviously the biggest disappointment of the game, especially after performing so well in the past. I don't know what got into him yesterday but the receivers certainly didn't help at all either. Not having Scott Long really hurt UofL. Chichester really needs to be taken advantage of, I would be lobbing the ball to him just about every other play if I was UofL.... If they can improve the passing game this season I think the running game will be sufficient.

Hartline did ok for his first game but he definitely needs to improve or UK will be in deep trouble in the SEC. He didn't do anything to lose the game for UK and that's all that matters for him at this point in the season.

UofL's special teams were pitiful. Some kind of personnel change needs to be made on returns, especially kickoffs.

Unless the offense improves, it will be a miracle if UofL goes .500 this season.

Unless UK's offense improves, it will be a miracle if they get above .500 this season.

You think kids who are buying into a system, working together for a common goal and putting aside the "me first" attitude is overrated? You don't think any of that figures into a great foundation for a team? You don't think character counts?

From fans who only want to see wins, no matter what that means in terms of character or ethics, you won't get any arguments if your school only recruits thugs, and miscreants. I don't want to see Louisville wind up with a reputation like some schools I could mention (and I'm not talking about UK).

Chemistry and character are two separate entities in my opinion.

The 72 A's hated each other and still won the World Series.

Character more or less is an individual piece, chemistry is a team wide piece, in my opinion.

Chemistry can only get you so far...you may have a group of kids who love each other but aren't very good. You still have good chemistry but a lousy product.
