September 1, 200818 yr Hopefully I'm wrong, but I have a hard time believing Louisville's defense improved that dramatically from last year to this one. If I'm right, then UK will be lucky to score 10 points a game in SEC competition. Where was the UK running game? I figured they'd do a lot better, which gives me a little bit of hope for UofL. Outstanding performance by the Wildcat defense. They will at least keep UK in games once they get to the meaty part of their schedule. The call on the punt was terrible; I was about 20 yards away and it was pretty obvious. Still, as was mentioned earlier, no guarantees the Cards do anything with it the way the offense sputtered. Also big in hampering UofL was the fact they got to return zero punts; great outings by Masthay and Tydlacka, and quality coverage by the UK punt team. Louisville has very few weapons on offense. Hopefully the soft early schedule will help them at least get some confidence. Either way, it's going to be a long year for Cardinal fans. Hartline was a lot more composed than I thought he'd be. Give him a chance. Keep Cobb as a wideout; you guys need help there anyway. If the running game comes around, Hartline will look a lot better. UK fans: Still think it's a good idea to bury this game in week three? I would think today's game would do wonders for recruiting, especially defensive players. Final note: How is it that every other year this game is full of excitement, but the one time I finally make it to one it's a snoozer? What an atrociously ugly game.
September 1, 200818 yr First of all, it was a bad call. Watch the replay. Bilal Powell was backing up away from Lyons Jr., and Dicky dropped the ball. And it did make a difference..They would have had the ball at the 20 with a chance to tie it. Was that the reason UL lost? Absolutely not. Their dreadful offensive performance was, but that certainly had an affect on the out come of the game. Still have it on my DVR and watched it 10 times or more, the ball was inches away from his helmet...
September 1, 200818 yr 6.) There was one Louisville cheerleader for every Louisville player. Indeed. That was completely ridiculous. 9.) It was good to meet Jim Schue. Nice shirt. Pleasure meeting you as well. Always nice to put faces with names. :thumb: My T-shirt is none the worse for wear after me sweating in it for several hours. Glad you liked, though.
September 1, 200818 yr What happened to Cantwell? All I was hearing from (some) UL fans was he was ready for this, his turn to shine, he's got experience... Are you kidding me Cantwell did do good for it being his first real test in a few years... He just does't have anyone that he can count on to catch it time in and time out. The only one close really is trent guy and he dropped a few easy ones today.
September 1, 200818 yr Still have it on my DVR and watched it 10 times or more, the ball was inches away from his helmet... He was moving AWAY from Lyons. If you can watch that play and say otherwise, you are lying to yourself.

September 1, 200818 yr He was moving AWAY from Lyons. If you can watch that play and say otherwise, you are lying to yourself. :thumb:UK got a huge break, no doubt about it and thats coming from a guy who's screen name is GO CATS!
September 1, 200818 yr He was moving AWAY from Lyons. If you can watch that play and say otherwise, you are lying to yourself. Moving away or not, I've seen the replay and the UofL player's feet were within a foot of Lyons. Let me stand a foot away from you and see if you can extend your arms out well enough to catch a football that you probably can't even see coming at you...
September 1, 200818 yr I saw nothing in this game to convince me that even if UL had been given the ball, that they would've scored...
September 1, 200818 yr Saw replay, bad call on Lyons fumble. The Player stopped and there was room for Lyons to catch the ball. There is no Halo rule. I drink Ice tea/Milk. If you think it was a good call you are entitled just as I am. Y'all keep watching and you will see punt returners calling for fair catches. This call was made the same way several times over the weekend, so maybe it's a point of emphasis as they like to call it. Dicky doesn't stop short on those plays, unless he has a reason too. Afterall, he's the son of a St X player, amd they don't do stuff like that. The ball was an inch or two from the helmet, probably looked like it would hit. I say to Dicky, next time just keep running and make it a no doubter.
September 1, 200818 yr He was moving AWAY from Lyons. If you can watch that play and say otherwise, you are lying to yourself. Why was he moving away? Because he was too close. And the ball still nearly hit his helmet. Look at their feet, they're 12-18 apart.
September 1, 200818 yr No complaints from me tonight. The drinks always taste a little sweeter when you whip your rival by 25. My observations. UK was very vanilla on offense today. They felt confident enough in their defense, that they didn't want to put Hartline in positions to force things. That is what they did. They could have attacked the perimeter a littel more with the run but didn't. Hartline looks to have a nice arm, but on long balls he floats them too much. UK will get better on offense, once their OL gels a little. Nice to see a defense play really well. Essentially, UK put 9 in the box and left Lindley and Jones on an island. UL went after Jones a lot more than they did Lindley. Lindley is one of the most underrated CB in the nation. Cats will get better on O, once the OL gels and Hartline gets some experience. As for UL, things are looking dim for Kragthorpe. Jurich said UL fans don't know what a great coach they have in SK. Jurich was rather salty about the fans in the paper earlier. On offense, Cantwell looked not so good. Their run game was non-existent. Frankly, it looks like UL lacks speed on offense. Their defense looked OK, but UK rarely threw the ball to the middle of the field. It looks like it will be a long year in the River City. It will be interesting to see the turnout for Tenn Tech.

September 1, 200818 yr He was moving AWAY from Lyons. If you can watch that play and say otherwise, you are lying to yourself. Moving away has nothing to do with it, you can still interfere while moving away... like I said before the ball was only inches away from the UL players helmet, would you disagree?
September 1, 200818 yr UK fans: Still think it's a good idea to bury this game in week three? I would think today's game would do wonders for recruiting, especially defensive players. Actually, I do. Perusing all the non UK-UofL boards after the game, everyone thought the game was a snoozer with two pathetic offenses. Were they wrong? I only enjoyed it cuz I pull for the Cats. But if both teams had a couple games under their belts, maybe they wouldn't have embarrassed themselves across the country.
