I worked on my game alot at the old Bush High School and also on a garage in downtown Pittsburg (suburb of London, Ky.). I used cain bottom chairs and a red, white, and blue rubber basketball.

 

We used 8" nails to put up an old rim on a piece of plywood on the telephone pole out in front of my house.

Highlands 7th grade beat R.A Jones by 30+ in the first game. Highlands 8th grade lost the nightcap 58 to 45. Both teams in the double bonus very early, good luck if your team is going to be playing out there because the kids cant breathe without a foul being called. Highlands point guard had 2 fouls in the first 40 seconds called on him. Eventually 2 Bird starters fouled out early in the 4th qtr.

 

Tie ball game after 1 period 5 to 5. Turnovers by the Birds against the R.A Jones press led to a 32 to 18 first half score. The Birds came out in the 2nd half and finally decided to press all over the court and created numerous turnovers for baskets. They cut the lead to 5 at one point late in the 4th qtr but then had to foul. Credit the JETS for hitting just about all of their free throws down the stretch to extend the lead out.

 

IMO if the Birds press that team the entire game they win but they didnt and congrats to the Jets for the big home victory. They have a couple of really nice players and have improved greatly from last year.

 

Sharp visits Highlands tomorrow.

Yep. Meiman is now playing JV I believe.

Any idea how TF is doing this year? My brother tried out but got cut on the last day. Some of his friends that I know play.

I don't know their record but a very solid well rounded team. Good guard and solid big men. I doubt whether they have been beaten much.

Lincoln 8th remains undefeated, beating Rockcastle County last night by 30 or so. Next game is tonight vs Meece. Go Eagles!:banana:

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Lincoln didn't win the 8th grade state tourney, they are very solid.

Lincoln probably is the team to beat. Alot good 8th graders have been moved up and aren't playing middle school. Lincoln has so much talent in their system they don't move up middle schoolers. There will be a couple of good teams from Lexington or Louisville as well as Scott County. We lost our best 8th starting with tonight's game. He will be PLAYING on the varsity.

Scott County hasn't moved any of their kids up. Richardson was released by the doctors yesterday to begin playing, so he will be available (not sure to what extent) tonight when Scott County plays Georgetown Middle. Portwood tweaked his knee in practice over the weekend, but appears to be OK. The 8th at Scott County hasn't played well yet this year, but they are capable at any point of putting it together. Of course, in all fairness, they have only played 4-5 games with their starting 5 from last year together.

I think southernkyhoops is talking about the Asher kid for Clinton County that moved to town this summer. Gover is already playing with Somerset's freshman team and not 8th grade.
