South Laurel, Wayne County, Lincoln County, Christain County, Knox County and Russell County should also be strong. Scott County should also be the team to beat at the 7th grade level. A couple of the Lexington teams will be very strong (LTMS, Sayre, Southern) as well as Somerset, Johnson Central, Fleming County, and Clinton County. In the 6th grade I like Wayne County as the preseason favorite in the with the addition of the six footer from Monroe County, who repeated the 6th grade this season. Lexington Christain, Somerset, Elliott County, Clinton County, Lexington Catholic, Monroe County and Lincoln County should all be very competitive.

I love it, lets get this party started SouthernKYhoops. I think you are pretty much right on the mark with the teams you mentioned. Scott Co was unbelievable last season as 7th graders. Im sure Lincoln, Wayne, Somerset, Knox, Christian and Russell will all be strong along with the Louisville and Lexington schools. Scott Co I would assume though might move Richardson up to play Frosh ball or JV as he is that good. Up in NKY, I would say that the Holmes 8th graders will be very tough. Campbell Co led by McGovney team will be good and if the Highlands boys grow and get some fire they will form a nice team. Already noticing some of the boys shooting up a little plus they will be in a better situation as far as coaching goes with Mike Vories. Pendleton Co will probably slack off due to Monroe moving up and playing JV next year. They also lost their beef in the middle in Smith who transferred to Highlands. Gray Middle should have a nice 8th grade team.

Ironically, this decision could very well hinge on Euton / Jackson / Flannery / Barber / Shotwell being ruled eligible. If not, Scott County will have to pull some younger kids up throughout their program, which could cause some of the middle schoolers to be pulled up. But, it is my understanding as of right now that Richardson will play middle school. I am sure he will play up some as well.
August 25, 200818 yr If South Laurel, stays healthy and no one is moved up... I think them and Scott Co, will be the teams to beat. South Laurel, has Knox Co,on their regular season schedule this year and it should be a great game.

It is possible he could play occasionally with the 8th grade team, but his focus will be with the high school. One of the other kids transferred to Northern (Pulaski Co.). The 8th grade team will be good, but not as strong as in recent years. Meece's 7th grade team will be pretty solid, but they lost Thacker to a coaching move. He will be missed from that team, but the 7th grade team is still probably the team to beat in southern Ky (along with Lincoln Co. and Clinton Co.).

Go Lincoln!:banana: I don't think that they give any "real" state titles for middle school teams. Taylor is getting moved up since at least one or two of the freshman will be starting on the varsity. Meece's 8th Grade split with Lincoln so they aren't without talent. As for Lincoln not moving kids up, well they are a 5A school and Somerset plays in the All A each year. We don't have your numbers, trust me the Jumpers will be okay. :thumb:
October 2, 200817 yr Anyone started practicing yet? Highlands tryouts start around Oct 10th I believe for 7th and 8th grade. 8th grade team has a nice nucleus coming back of around 7 or 8 kids who have played together past few years. I noticed quite a few have grown as well. Hoping to keep big 6'2 Nick True with them as there are rumors he may be moving up to play with the Frosh. He is a 7th grader by the way and has improved his game immensley. Birds also got a transfer from Pendleton Co who should help with size down low in Zack Smith. I think he is around 6'1 and over 200lbs. Twenhofel, Holmes and Highlands will probably be the top teams and also whatever Campbell Co color McGovney plays on. Highlands is holding a Pre-Season Early Tipoff tourney starting Nov 10th-13th with Finals on 15th. I believe there are some very good teams in that one from NKY. Gray Middle, St.Cath/St.Thomas combined, Campbell Co and Tichenor (Lloyd feeder).
