Highlands 7th/8th swept both of their games vs. Pendleton Co. tonight at home. 7th won by 20+ and 8th won by 15 I believe. I think the final was 39 to24.

Walton-Verona's 6th, 7th and 8th travel to Conner tonight for some interesting matchups.

I think southernkyhoops is talking about the Asher kid for Clinton County that moved to town this summer. Gover is already playing with Somerset's freshman team and not 8th grade.

Other 8th graders I noticed ... Mason Monroe had 11 for Pendleton, Larry Morton 3 for Dunbar, Darrell Hicks 12 for Shelby. I am sure there were more, but those are the ones I know.

Yes, Gover is playing varsity. He does not start but gets quality time. I would say he is eighth or ninth man. I think his high score for the year is 8 on the varsity. He starts on the Freshman and JV teams. He is playing realy good this year.

Trevor Tiller for Paintsville also. He may start for them if I'm not mistaken. He had 21 vs. Rose Hill. 19 of them from the charity stripe.

Both Newport's 7th & 8th grade teams fell to Beechwood Tuesday at the Cats' place.

Nope didn't attend but I know the usual starters didn't start and played very little..

 

It was around a 40 point game or so.

Highlands 8th defeated St. Pius tonight 57 to 41 in the St. Thomas Tourney. Donovan McCoy led the Birds with 15. Jack Collinsworth hit double digits as well. 10 kids scored for the Birds. They move on to play Cincinnati Our Lady of Visitation on Fri night.

 

On the other side of the bracket it is St. Thomas vs. St. Mary.

Summit View beat Blessed Sacrament Tues. night by 6. Sampson didn't play due to an illness and without Jackson, the Jags were playing small ball. Huesman led them with 14. Quite a few players stepped up when needed, but none bigger than Cody Gambrell on the glass. He had several rebounds at key times. Pouncy chipped in with 8-10 points and good defense. Swanson was in foul trouble for 3 1/2 quarters and had to play the down low most of the game because of the personnel that was available.

Walton 6th won by more than 30. Walton 7th won by one point. McNeil is the smoothest 7th grader in the state. I didn't stick around for the 8th grade game.
