January 11, 200917 yr Earlier this year when these two hooked up on the 7th grade level Fleming Co. led by something like 30-7 at the half and cruised from there. I predict - hopefully a better game. Mason in a somewhat close game in the 6th., and Mason by quite a bit in the 8th. Mason's 7th grade bunch have never defeated FC but they have picked up a couple of players that certainly make them better. In all honesty even though the first game was a blowout it should be a really good game. I was at the first meeting this year.Fleming's 7th grade got off to a super start.Their press really rattled the M.C. guards.The Royals will have to have alot better guard play if they expect to win this game.In respect,M.C. did out score Fleming in the second half 23-11,so there is some hope.The big kid from M.C. played a great game against the Panther's last time.He will have to have the same kind of game again,and if M.C. can handle the Panther's press,this may be a good game to watch.
January 11, 200917 yr I agree about the guard play for Mason Co. That is an area that they struggle in and Fleming has outstanding guard play. If Mason can handle the press and find ways to get the ball inside to their big boy it should be a good game. They could be catching Fleming at a good time as well as they have not played a game (other than a scrimmage vs. the 8th grade team before a varsity game) since Dec. 18. They had Rowan Co. scheduled but Rowan cancelled. They are bound to be a bit rusty.
January 12, 200917 yr Beechwood eighth grade team 9-2 on the season with losses to Hazard, by two, and to summit view, by three, without starter, Dillon Smith. Beechwood is a solid team and good luck the rest of the year! Keep us updated on their scores Buzzsaw!
January 12, 200917 yr Beechwood 8th grade beat RA Jones 51-47 and then lost to Sebastian by 20 in the BCI Tournament this weekend. The Sebastian game was a three point game midway through the 3rd then due to foul trouble and lack of depth Sebastian quickly pulled away.

If they put a body on the Moo-young kid for Turkeyfoot they shouldnt have any problems. If you dont play physical with that young man he will score 20+ on you. He has great skills for a tall kid.

January 13, 200917 yr The 8th grade St. Mary boys this year will play app. 35-40 games. Last year they played 50+. I heard they lost a couple tough games on Sunday night to Visitation in the St. Thomas tourney and St. Thomas in their own tourney. The latter being a 9:30pm start time on a school night :eek:. Im sure they could use a day off.
