Smoothest in the state is a stretch but he is a very nice player. The WV 6th grade team jumped on Conner early and it was never really a game. WV was up 20 pts before the Conner coach called a timeout. The 7th grade game was a fun game to watch. Conner lead 3 to 0 and 3 to 2 but i don't believe they ever lead after that. Playing on the small floor at Conner Middle School makes things that much more difficult against Conner's size. They meet again in about 2 weeks.

Who guarded Barker for Conner from WV? I would think he would be a matchup problem for WV and the 2 guard for WV would be a match up problem for Conner.

January 8, 200917 yr Summit View beat Blessed Sacrament Tues. night by 6. Sampson didn't play due to an illness and without Jackson, the Jags were playing small ball. Huesman led them with 14. Quite a few players stepped up when needed, but none bigger than Cody Gambrell on the glass. He had several rebounds at key times. Pouncy chipped in with 8-10 points and good defense. Swanson was in foul trouble for 3 1/2 quarters and had to play the down low most of the game because of the personnel that was available. Nice to see the guards fill it up for the View. Blessed Sac has improved a lot and the Frederick boy is a crafty little guard.
January 8, 200917 yr I've seen about 15 different 7th grade teams this season. I have not seen the Walton team but have read all the positive comments. Conner is a notch above all the rest of the teams I have watched play. For Walton to beat a very good Conner team validates what the Walton supporters have been saying all season.

The 8th grade team is playing better and has experience playing in that atmosphere with many of the kids playing AAU. They truly lack a Post Player with Nick True moving up to play Frosh. I think win or lose its a nice experience to go down and play teams from other parts of the state. Last year the boys had a rough weekend having to face LTMS/Scott Co.(eventual champion) and play Holmes earlier in the day. This year hopefully they will get a better draw and not have a reg season game on same weekend. Im hoping Coach V takes the boys down though. NKY should have some nice representation down there with Summit View, Conner, Twenhofel as well all having very solid teams. Maybe some of their fans can fill us in.

I never said he was the best in the state, just the smoothest. He doesn't get rattled, doesn't hurry, just plays his game. Just seems the game is slower to him than other kids his age.

There aren't too many 6th grade coaches with a region championship under their belt. Moeves from WV guarded Barker during the 7th grade game and did a pretty good job. McNeil from WV was the match up problem for Conner. He had about 20 of WV's 33 point.

Yes Frederick had all their points in the first quarter... Summit didn't score in the second, so it stayed within 4 to 6 points throughout the second half... Good thing Summit has a little time off... They need some kids to get healthy...

WV's best players are Grant Moeves, Cody Catlette and Shea Evans.
