December 28, 200817 yr Here's the way it stacks up (I believe) 12:00 Noon Highlands/St.Joe ......7th grade division 1:10 Twenhofel/Tichenor-Turkeyfoot winner(anyone know who won this one).......6th grade division 2:20 Twenhofel/St. Mary....8th grade division 3:30 Walton/St.Joe-Highlands winner......7th grade division Someone correct me if this is inaccurate. Some great basketball in this tournament! Congrats to all the teams, all tourney team selections, and participants in general. This was a good one from what I saw in the few games I was in attendence. Should anyone advance from the losers bracket, Tuesday will be finals.

I was at the game and the game closed a bit down to 4 at the middle of thee 4th, but SMS quickly stopped the bleeding, and pulled away. Game was never in question. But hey, don't let facts get in the way of your argument... I agree. Two games is not a lot for these kids. I watched Summit play (AAU Bulls) the NKY Flight a week ago (Mostly 2nd and 3rd team kids from Twenhofel) and the Flight just finished a tournament and the kids played 7 games in 3 days. My point is that wasn't used as an excuse and the Flight took the Bulls (Summit) to the wire with all of their kids. Great game to watch and would be even better if you didn't have one team extremely tired. By the way, did I mention that was never used as an excuse? Two games? Naaaa.... don't even try that as an excuse

December 28, 200817 yr Swanson and Sampson were quiet today and their outside shooters couldnt get really good looks. It was a frustrating day Im sure for the Jags and missing their 2 big kids off the bench doesnt give them alot of depth. Congrats to the Birds and good luck later this afternoon vs. St. Marys to see who plays Twenhofel in the finals. I was in the stands for this one too, and Swanson and Sampson played there butt's off, but you can't do it alone. Congrats to Highlands. A game played well with the excellent ref's that were there..

I simply was unsure, because the games I saw in this tournament were very well officiated. I didn't see any game that I was in attendance that was decided by the stripes, and that is encouraging for Middle School competition. IMO

December 28, 200817 yr Round 3 tomorrow - Summit View -vs- Highlands... Summit will be without two of the big men for the next three weeks... Will take a lot of good guard play for Summit to pull this one out... Just a side note, but Excellent Defensive play by Pouncy today. Nice hustle...

OK, I get it now, but in all the years I've been attending BB games, I've learned two things at least.........the officials are always 1/2 wrong, and someone will always make excuses and find someone to blame besides the players and coaches:rolleyes: Most critics are never willing to put on the stripes, but always seem to be able to do the job better. For one, I wouldn't want their job for anything, and I commend those guys for putting up with the stuff they do!!!!!

Im sure you enjoyed the three 1 pt losses though last year administered by the Birds. If the Birds play their first 6 or 7 and those only they win this by 10. Right it was 6 fouls called against Highlands and 1 against Summit at end of the first half but the Summit coach wanted to complain on his way to the locker room. LOL Summit was flat today and the Bird defense shut them down. They need more options then just Swanson's drives and Sampson in the lane. IMO the 3pt shooters need to get hot if they want to win the tournament. I thought the refereeing was pretty good in all the games the Birds played. Some good some bad but overall pretty good. Nobody got wronged in a nutshell.

Naaaa.... don't even try that as an excuse Your right it was a pretty poor excuse for lack of effort. If you really want to know the truth there you have it. I have seen the Birds exert effort and it clearly wasnt there. IMO they should have gone zone and forced St. Mary's to shoot the ball which they struggle at doing. They have a nice disciplined offense with a lot of motion and cutters. Take that away from them and they struggle. They are a solid team and they were the better team today so I dont want to take anything away from their win, sorry if you took it that way. Robinson and Meyers will look very good in Birdgear next year though. Edited December 28, 200817 yr by Qryche11

At least they aren't bringin' 'em in off the streets!:thumb: Only issue I had with the Dayton tourney was some memory lapses by the scorekeeper in one game. He missed 2 pts for the Birds in the first game with Woodland and they gave a foul to the wrong kid who ended up fouling out eventually. Other than that a very well run tourney and Dayton should be commended for putting it on. Many volunteers should be proud as the Devils never lack in school spirit.

For the second part, who cares about three one point losses from a season ago?? Not sure where that came from...
