You are referring to 8th graders playing in summer leagues and camps with the varsity. My cousin was among those affected by that. My cousin was a senior and above average senior (she was an All-Region goalie) who had some time cut over the summer b/c of that. Granted the 8th grader turned out to be a phenom, but at that point she wasn't as good as the seniors. No slight to anyone, but it was rather unfortunate and it set a tone that carried on for a few years.

Correct me please if I am wrong but you are referring to 8th graders in the summer which are now freshman, right or wrong? or are they truely 8th graders to be?

No, I am referring to 8th graders playing either on an NC team during the season.

For the record, I don't have a problem with it. I'm told, though, that more than a few parents did have a problem with it.I was wondering if this was the beginning of "parental distractions."

I was almost positive that Ms Sandfoss played some freshman, then moved to JV and dressed V towards the end of that season in which she was a true 8th grader. This is what I was told caused alot of parent/player problems back then. IMO, I will take Courtney on my team any day of the week and that includes when she was an 8th grader.

Parents, which I am one, need to realize this is high school sports not a church league or a rec league. I hear all the time, "I can't believe little Johnny/Suzie don't play as much as so and so because when they were little they played the same amt of time." Well, DA! When they were little that is what the rules called for. Send them back to the church league or rec league and leave these coaches alone.:thumb:

So basically Coach McDonald, who's job was to put the best team on the floor, is guilty of upsetting Mr and Mrs Whomever because their daughter(s) couldn't beat out an 8th grader for playing time/a spot on the varsity roster?

As I said before, careful what you wish for, you just may get it.

Someone asked earlier in the thread if there would be a house cleaning from top to bottom within the Girls program. Reading some of the posts it appears there will be one new assistant but can anyone close to the situation confirm whether or not Mr. Dawn starts with new blood beginning with the Frosh and works his way up.

Just to clarify your first statement. Courtney played freshman ball until their season was over and then dressed the last few JV games. She NEVER dressed varsity. I have checked and this is absolutely correct.

As for your second statement, I couldn't agree more. Parents must just be so naive to believe coaches won't play the players they think will help them win. Your right, rec leagues are where they belong.

It's in the Enquirer now.

Here we go again with the parents. When does it stop. Same thing with the schools administrations as well. When will people quit giving in to the "parental interference"?? Parents need to learn that the coaches are hired for a reason: "TO COACH". Here's a novel concept. Let them coach.

I seem to remember a thread from last year where a player went to a referee and asked them to kick out their parents. Parents have gotten way out of hand. I've seen it way too many times. If it's not the referee, it's the coach. If not the coach, its the athletic director. How about this, sit in the stands and enjoy your athlete on the court or field. Don't worry about what the coach or anyone else is doing.

How many times have we seen it on here. If you think you can do a better job, get a job doing it. Let the coaches do their job.

This is a shame. Coach McDonald has a very enviable record at NCC. One that many other coaches would love to have. Something must be going right at NCC to be that successful. Especially in the 9th Region. 216 wins over 12 years (18 per year avg). Not bad at all.

Wherever she may go after NCC (since she is staying there to teach this next year) will be very lucky to have a coach of her caliber land in their lap.

My best to Coach McDonald. She was very good to us during the last season. She wants to coach again. She'll be back and as D'em up said "careful what you wish for......"

Another topic for next years show.....................again.

I agree with you 100%. Parents can be out of control over their children in sports. I do understand that they want to see their children play more but in competitive sports you have to play the better players to achieve titles. I wish Coach McDonald all the best -- she has brought a lot to the hill -- they should appreciate that.

100% innocent. Its a testament to the NCC community.

I am glad you feel this way, I hung out with most of the above tonight and this thread was a topic of discussion.

By the way, I was offered a $100 to tell them who you are... :D

I would hope I haven't offended them. I think its a great community and, actually, a rarity. Good people.

Not really so rare...check out the rosters for Highlands, CovCath, Campbell Cty, Boone, etc...and you'll see many of the same surnames that you have seen for decades! I like the loyalty!

Its not just the surnames being consistent. There's something about the community that I can't quite put into words that is refreshing.

This was before Ms. Sandfoss.

This was before Ms. Sandfoss.

No 8th grader EVER dressed varsity for NCC girls under coach McDonald. Period.

Is it not time to give this post a rest. Obviously the school has moved forward and Coach McDonald has as well. I hope, since I have 3Breds2B, the BGP posters on this thread have very little to do with athletics and/or academics at NCC.
