Good pick-up. He should do well.

I'm sure he will. He has experience, 9 of the 11 players back from last year, and the backing of the administration. Adjustments to the girls game will be the only thing keeping him from a big season. Good luck.

NCC is just one big family. Dawns/Pangallos/Chiodi/Baci/etc.

Just curious. Is that an innocent statement or is there something to be read between the lines.

Wow!! NCC was very fortunate to lose a good coach and be able to have a school official w/coaching experience, along with his niece, ready to step in and take over on such short notice.

Is this a short term deal for Dawn, or is he grooming his niece to takeover? Rumor has it that NCC has no teaching positions open for the coming school year so they asked Ron to take the job for this year. Also, this has to hurt the NCC boys program in some way, because it seemed like Grant Brannen really relied on Dawn's knowledge during games.

Adjustments and maybe the Highlands Lady Birds

Ron knows the game and will do a good job. He is a "no non-sense" type of person when it comes to basketball and he will have high expectations for the girls. I hope the parents understand this and do not interfere (he probably won't tolerate any interference). Let him coach and watch the girls progress and succeed. Good luck!

Great Choice !!!

Valid point.

I hope you are right. The previous coach didn't "tolerate" interference, but you still have to have the administration backing. I don't think this will be a problem, but it's not just the coach.

I had heard from a good source he wasn't going to coach with the boy's team anyway. I'm sure Brannen is ready to go without him.

100% innocent. Its a testament to the NCC community.

So they should be called the "In-Breds" ???? Sorry, sorry, sorry....I just couldn't resist! Just joking! Good luck to Coach Dawn and Asst. Coach Chiodi! What a great brain trust of experience!

Wow, I called this early in the thread. I truly believe Ron is stepping up to help the girls program until his niece can take over the reins. I dont see him staying in this position long.

First of all, 8th graders have, in the past, played Varsity sports at NCC.

I played golf and Timmy Sandfoss played football as an 8th grader.

I know there were more but off hand that's all I have.

Secondly, Mr. Dawn was not going to be with boys this year anyway.

Lastly, knowing both Mr. Dawn and Grant pretty well, I believe this is an excellent hire and probably the best avaiable option, I have no doubt at all the Mr. Dawn will still be a willing and very helpful resource to Grant going forward.

Its my understanding that the girls b-ball team had not used 8th graders until a recent change.

Ok? And not to be condescending at all, but whats your point?
