Flannery will get more playing time than you think he will. He can flat out shoot the ball and Billy Hicks always plays his shooters.

 

I'm not doubting the kid can shoot. How is the kid athletically? My thinking is that he has 3 or 4 kids in front of him that are potentially future D1 basketball players in Jackson, Guyn, Manning, and Ivey (I have not seen Ivey but have heard rave reviews on the kid). From my understanding Ivey is quite the shooter himself, Guyn has come a long way with his shot, and when Manning gets the ball out of his face and over his head he will be a good one, and those kids will probably bring a lot more to the table in their overall game than Flannery from what I am hearing. Also, don't forget Aaron Ford who has been in the system for 3 years already and that is 5 guys that will be hard to take time from on the perimeter.

 

I'm sure if the kid is as good a shooter as I'm hearing, he can play some. However, what are the odds he plays more than 8 minutes on a squad with these type of athletes and players.

Personally I think it's great that Scott Co. has built their program to the point where folks want their kids there. They play a national schedule, have great facilities, and get their kids recruited. Whats not to like. You can't be mad if a family decides to move from Paducah to Scott Co. and their child can play ball. Parents are going to do what's best for their child's future. No different then a child playing an instrutment and a certain school having an outstanding band program. Now if someone showed me where a player was getting paid or was receiving some type of benefit then I could see being upset. I just think schools need to invest more into their sports programs. Make kids wanna play for their home schools. Stop being content with winning your district, region, and state. Think national!

 

Kids are not "suppose to" transfer for athletic reasons only; and it seems that some of the kids that Scott County are getting are transferring for that sole purpose only - At least that is what you are saying.

 

It's a lot easier to "think national" when a school is getting the best players year in and year out. What good would it do for a small school, or any school for that matter, to play nationally ranked competition- and get their brains beat in - when they don't have the man power?

This is pathetic. I can understand Euton. I can even to a point understand Chad Jacksons' move. But now 3 that play on the same AAU team? If the KHSAA doesn't find this fishy then this state needs new people running the show. But if these guys actually pull this off, hats to you all. :thumb:

 

But, If the school, or any coaches ect from there are not involved, you really cant do anything. Seems just like a group of parents got together on their own and said lets all send our kids to this school, they just happen to all play on the same AAU team, nothing wrong here.

Once again I'll ask like I asked in the other two threads: Can any of you who are mad about the transfers honestly tell me that you wouldn't accept these fine athletes with open arms had they been trying to transfer into the school you support ? Or would that go against your morals ?

I guess morals in our society do not exist. I think that basketball is getting the fruits of its labors. KY brought in AAU and the KHSAA has no control or ability to regulate it. These kids play all year long with each other and if they are good, like this team they are all on is, then they can get together and make something like this happen. I am not saying that this is what happened in this situation, but if you look at it in this situation it sure looks funny.

 

I wish the best to Scott Co. and this group of young men. They are great athletes and I hope they get everything they want out of their high school experience. IF all of this is legit then so be it, I will definately agree with an earlier poster that maybe ethics is the issue.

 

For all of the great people who think that the KHSAA does not do their job well, they have some openings, you should apply. They are so many transfers this year they will not have enough people to investigate all the situations. Best of luck to all in involved

OK well what I meant was folks are complaining about these transfers when no wrong doing has been uncovered. If these kids were being adopted by Scott Co. boosters then I could see the argument. But if a familly decides that Mayberry's economy, climate, or crime rate no longer fits them then there shouldnt be a problem finding a school that your children are comfortable with. Whether it deals with the drama club, math program, or cheerleading team. As far as "thinking national" most programs are content with dominating their area teams year in and year out. Your program should be grown to the point where kids aren't even considering another school. Why arent kids running from Scott Co.? Like Henderson Co. played Cincinnati Moeller in football a few years back. Now they got drilled but it showed where their coach and AD aspired for their program to be. I bet their kids will talk about that game forever. The game now is exposure and travel! And I remember small schools playing a national schedule. In the mid 90's UHA and Paintsville played big name schools. Paintsville came to Nashville and played Pearl-Cohn with Ron Slay(UT) and John Henderson(NFL) among others.

Now now all three tranfers family have purchase new homes in Scott County! That is a very big thing, the way the real estate market is now days! If it is only about basketball you just rent! They all will stay in Scott County after their kids are out of Scott Co. schools. Remember it is a wonderful place to live! Plus it has a great schools and a great basketball program. Along with Major D1 coachs in the gym very other week! Sometime just to watch open gym. Is their any other place in the state like Scott Co? I do not think so!

IMO Flannery won't be a big contributor with all the all-stars on the team. He has some talent but doesn't compare to the others. He will be a role player at best and substitute. I wish him the best but I think he would have had a better future if he had stayed at Boone County. Good luck to the kid and I hope this move is beneficial.

I agree! Boone Co is his best option to be discovered. He might be the go to guy there.
