I agree! Boone Co is his best option to be discovered. He might be the go to guy there.

 

It could be (I have no idea) that Flannery is the type of kid that just wants a chance to play in Rupp and win a state championship, even if he isn't the go to guy. If that is the case then I commend the young man; because there aren't too many kids today that would give up the chance to be the star. :thumb:

Sounds to me that Scott County is becoming more like an Oak Hill Academy than a Kentucky High School. This is becoming quite a joke. None of this is just coincidence.

 

I wonder if the parents of players that have been in the system through middle school waiting to get a shot at the varsity level will continue to bust their tails raising booster money for the program?

 

The poster (devils advocate) that earlier said schools should invest more in their sports programs obviously doesn't understand the funding equation. Tax dollars will go to education before they will go to sports. With the competition for the tax dollar, strong booster support is more important than it has ever been. I just wonder how the backbone booster supporters feel about Scott County becoming transfer central for the premier players in the state.

Good question Fanofthe11th. I guess some of it would be related to whether the primary boosters are families of students or local businesses. I get the impression that Scott County High School basketball like some other communities with ONE high school is supported by the entire Georgetown community and alumni. If that is indeed the case, the current roster of players is less the interest of the fan base (a la any University) than racking up titles. I am not commenting that this is bad or good...just a premise.

This does create a different scenario than, for example, a Lexington public school where there is competition for donations with other schools. Therefore the support is limited to the energy of the current families and players at that school as alumni usually lose interest once they graduate and move on.

The situation at Scott County is getting plain ridicoulos.

 

I agree. I know one thing, almost everyone in the state will be cheering for Scott County's opponents in every game next season.

I don't think he would have been the star. Why not stay at Boone with their talented group and try to lead them to Rupp instead of riding the bench just for a chance to play at Rupp? Then what? So you played at Rupp and no one got to see you play because you sat instead of being a two year starter at Boone? Doesn't make sense to me.

I can forsee some major parental problems in the future for SC Basketball, with success and good fortune also comes a downside! Gotta love coaching.

Another exceptional sophomore moving to Scott County from Boone.

 

Dad moving to cut his work commute from about 4 hours to 2 (works mostly in Richmond and Eastern KY area) and I think they want to be closer to their daughter who is a Freshman at UK.

SC's Freshman Class isnt too shabby either! On a side note their 8th grade class next year won a Middle School State Championship......
