At Scott Co. you can get a very good education! Alot of the player on the team are on the honor roll! Euton will be just fine! Plus mother is a teacher by trade! Just wish the kids good luck and stop be a hater! All the people on this thread wish it was their school get these fine young man. Well open your gym 7 days a week and watch your kids get better, then watch your program grow. And you to will get kids that want to play for your school. And maybe a tranfer or three!!!!!! Remember kids that play basketball for Scott Co. just play one sport for the most part. Open gym may have D1 D2 and NAIA coaches very other day! Open gym is for all people in the area to play any grade may come and ball! Along with fans,friends, and family all at the gym to see great basketball!

Hope this gives some understanding to Scott Co. basketball! Please tell your coaches not to close the gym it help your program!

Funny that someone would describe an intelligent kid as an "egg head". It is also pretty ridiculous that so many on this site put so much stock in sports exposer and wether or not players are D1, D2, D3 or whatever.

 

My money is on the science whiz to make it in this world.

 

Making it to Rupp Arena is great, but I think some parents are putting way too much emphasis on the wrong things. When it becomes all about making it to Rupp and winning state titles I think we are teaching our kids the wrong lessons.

 

I'll go out on a limb and say that there is not a high school player in this state that is a shoe in to make it to the NBA and make a living playing basketball. There will be a very small percentage that get full D1 rides in order to get an education.

 

Don't get me wrong, I believe one should play to win, but when it becomes all about winning there is a problem.

 

Sports ends for every person, but education lasts a lifetime. It is just odd to me that we revere sports stars, but refer to academic stars as "egg heads".

The hypocrisy IMO is the denial that most schools make more “bonus” money off of a championship sports program than they do off of an award winning science, math or literature department. So, while we will allow star science, math, art and literature students to transfer from school to school with no strings attached, we fight tooth and nail to keep quality players at our schools because they bring in more money and publicity. The great LIE here is the attempt to convince everyone the rules are in place to benefit the student athletes, when the fact is they exist to protect the human collateral of the schools. Student athletes are more of a commodity in our entertainment based culture than merely “smart” students.

 

I agree that a solid education should be the primary focus, but to deny that athletics is and should be a legitimate concern for parents of gifted players is truly absurd.

 

Maybe somebody needs to start “BluegrassAcademics.com” and see if it doesn’t take ten years to get the traffic this site has in one season. :lol:

Having great players to me just puts more pressure on the School and the Coach to win.

WOW--All these "Transfers for Jobs" to one community, but yet on the same AAU team; and 174 superintendents are worried about scheduling private schools, just because they could draw kids from other areas if they chose???? Interesting how many on here question a kid attending a religious school a few miles away or even in a neighboring county; but see nothing wrong with kids on a handpicked AAU team from around the state moving hundreds of miles and ending up at the same "public" school????

 

Take off your "only the private schools do this blinders" and see what's happening here!! If this was happening at a LexCath, CovCath, etc. there'd be hundreds of posts of condemnation on here and calls to "separate" and "boycott". Talk about double standards????

I wasn't aware of that. Given that to be true, and the precedent set by that the decision, it might be hard to justify a ruling granting Euton immediate eligibility.

 

Don't get me wrong I think Euton should be ok with no questions. My point is that the KHSAA has ruled players ineligible if they felt the move was made strickly for athletic reasons.

 

Ironically the Faulkner's mother also had a change of employment that preceeded their move.

 

Either way I say boycott the private schools in Fayette Co.

By this I deduce that you apparently feel that my syllogism lacks a significant degree of ‘axiomatic’ justification within the milieu of an essentially Bayesian inference presented in a purely classical context.

I'm not looking for a rumble here, I genuinely cannot grasp why everyone thinks this is a huge problem. Scott County has a great program, they attract some top notch players whose parents relocate to legally reside within the school district. They pay their property taxes that go to underwrite the school. Two of the three transfers are departing the rotten private school side to come to the valiant public school side. I would think more folks would be happy.

 

What's the real issue here?
