I'm not looking for a rumble here, I genuinely cannot grasp why everyone thinks this is a huge problem. Scott County has a great program, they attract some top notch players whose parents relocate to legally reside within the school district. They pay their property taxes that go to underwrite the school. Two of the three transfers are departing the rotten private school side to come to the valiant public school side. I would think more folks would be happy.

First of all, I have nothing to do with Scott County... if anything I should be upset they are the windfall of considerable talent that will make it that much more difficult for the rest of us to compete with them.

 

It's a known fact that schools with successful athletics programs attract students. Why else do schools work so hard to build competitive programs? Why else do other schools complain when a school like Scott County is the beneficiary of high level transfers?

 

If winning games, and raising revenues and ultimately attracting more students to individual schools were not a consideration and everyone was only concerned with academic excellence, why would it matter where kids that can dribble, pass and shoot enroll?

 

If attracting students through excellence and achievement is a violation of the rules, then somebody needs to rewrite the rules to reflect the truth.

WOW--All these "Transfers for Jobs" to one community, but yet on the same AAU team; and 174 superintendents are worried about scheduling private schools, just because they could draw kids from other areas if they chose???? Interesting how many on here question a kid attending a religious school a few miles away or even in a neighboring county; but see nothing wrong with kids on a handpicked AAU team from around the state moving hundreds of miles and ending up at the same "public" school????

 

Take off your "only the private schools do this blinders" and see what's happening here!! If this was happening at a LexCath, CovCath, etc. there'd be hundreds of posts of condemnation on here and calls to "separate" and "boycott". Talk about double standards????

I'm not defending Scott County because I honestly don't know of anything to defend here... unless competing to win and be the best within the rules requires defense.

 

I am defending parent's rights to choose whatever school they want to enroll their kids. It shouldn't matter what the reason, especially if they are willing to relocate at their own expense into that school's district.

 

This is about our freedom as Americans... not about which schools are magnets for premium talent.

At Scott Co. you can get a very good education! Alot of the player on the team are on the honor roll! Euton will be just fine! Plus mother is a teacher by trade! Just wish the kids good luck and stop be a hater! All the people on this thread wish it was their school get these fine young man. Well open your gym 7 days a week and watch your kids get better, then watch your program grow. And you to will get kids that want to play for your school. And maybe a tranfer or three!!!!!! Remember kids that play basketball for Scott Co. just play one sport for the most part. Open gym may have D1 D2 and NAIA coaches very other day! Open gym is for all people in the area to play any grade may come and ball! Along with fans,friends, and family all at the gym to see great basketball!

Hope this gives some understanding to Scott Co. basketball! Please tell your coaches not to close the gym it help your program!

I personally don't have a problem with the transfer. Flannery is good but he wasn't even one of the top players for Boone and won't bea major contributor for SC. I can understand his dad wanting to move to be closer to work, but as it's been stated his mom works for Boone and it seems odd that Euton and Jackson transfer to SC and then one of their other AAU buddies just shows up at the same time.

 

If the KHSAA agrees with it, I will too...but I can't sit here and say this move had nothing to do with basketball.

 

If the kid wants a chance to play at Rupp then it's a good move but I agree kis shouldn't transfer for athletic reasons. Covcath or Holmes have won the past five 9th region titles and it doesn't look like that streak will come to an end anytime soon with what Holmes returns next year.

IMO, Holmes will be more vulnerable next season than they were last season. I think that Henderson meant a lot more to that team than you may be willing to admit. Neither Pittman nor Rico Johnson can defend as well as Arez did, especially on the perimeter. Offensively, Pittman is athletic but seems to prefer spot up shooting and playing outside and needs to improve his ball handling to be able to drive and create his own shots.

 

Holmes is the defending champ in the 9th, and until they are beaten, they have bragging rights, but Boone will also have a solid group of returning players in Earls, McFarland, Gabbard, Popp, and Cotton, plus some good freshman players coming up who won the championship last year, and Boone should be better this year than they were last year.

 

I realize that AAU ball is a different animal, but the Boone 2010 class has beaten the Holmes 2010 class several times (Pitmann, Johnson brothers, et al.), including recently (if I'm not mistaken, a few of the Boone sophs start for one of the Shining Stars teams), so I would not say it is out of the realm of possibility for another team besides Holmes to win the 9th this year.

 

Cov Cath lost a couple of key players from last year and will not be as good as they were last year in my opinion. McFarland matches up well with Maile, and Gabbard and Popp are not inferior to Shover (as a matter of fact, in combination, I think the Boone guards will be better than the CCH guards). I will also. It is just to much of a coincidence that all these people have job changes and kids that play basketball. Something is rotten in Denmark!:lol: And why do they all seem to gather at Scoot Co , rather odd if you ask me.:confused:

The Boone sophs played with Euton/Jackson. That's a big difference considering the Pittman/Johnson bros. AAU team is primarily Holmes kids and if I'm not mistaken all 5 starters are Holmes kids.

I don't think SC gives a hoot if you cheer for them or not. 2 or 3 people vs. the entire town...... I am in total agreement that if the entire family moves....case closed! This is America and if KHSAA cannot find any recruiting violations, you are free to move where you please. It is absolutely none of your business why a family moves. Period!:fight:
