I understand exactly what is going on with Woolpert. I've heard these rumblings for well over a year now. I was not commenting on Euton's transfer one way or the other. I was commenting on the fact that the company has not shut down. I sure wouldn't want someone creating a perception about my company that it was shutting down if it had not. It really wouldn't be good for business.

I think we are getting a little off track here. Back to Flannery and his move to Scott Co. Should be interesting to see if any For Sale signs go up in the Flannery yard over the next month or so. With this market, they should expect to take a hit if they intend to sell it in a firesale.

I don't think he would have been the star. Why not stay at Boone with their talented group and try to lead them to Rupp instead of riding the bench just for a chance to play at Rupp? Then what? So you played at Rupp and no one got to see you play because you sat instead of being a two year starter at Boone? Doesn't make sense to me.

You have forgotten the reason for moving.Dad is tired of driving 3 or 4 hrs per day to and from work.:laugh::laugh:

Yeah, just like Euton's dad's job was the reason they moved. It would be crazy not to think that it has to have something to do with basketball.

 

Scott Co. now has three of the best sophomores in the state. I bet Lexington Catholic and the other 11th Region schools are hating this.

 

Ok, this is definately not accurate. I don't want to take anything away from Flannery, but he is not one of the best sophomores in the state. He wasn't even in the top three at Boone. Earls, Popp, and Gabbard all started for Boone and Cotton, another sophomore, started ahead of him in a few games and was pretty much 1st or 2nd off the bench. Flannery is a good shooter, but that's about it.

This has nothing to do with public or private. If Scott were a private school he could still live in Boone Co. and play at Scott. Who knows he may not be happy about the move his parents are making. Think about it. Star at Boone Co. on the bench possiblly at Scott. I have been there to a degree, with a child that was on a team that had an undefeated season but he had limited playing time. I'm not saying he should of had more playing time for that team, but he has said many times it would have been a lot more fun, (FUN there is a differant word to use with our childrens lives) , to be on a team where he got to play some. Personally I think I would rather be on a team that where I get some playing time and make a run at my regional tourny championship, than to be a bench player for a state championship team. I hope he does well at Scott, but there could always be more players coming this year or next.

My mistake. I thought he was Boone's top player. I had that mixed up.

I’ve known Ron and Carolyn Flannery (Austin’s dad and mom) for many years and I can honestly state that they are two of the finest people it is my privilege to call my friends.

 

Ron is a class act and a straight shooter with a 20 year military background who doesn’t play games or beat around the bush. If he says he’s tired of commuting over 200 miles a day to and from Richmond, and looking to cut his commute to 80 miles a day, while keeping his son in a great school situation… I believe him… and anybody who says they wouldn’t do the same thing if they were in his shoes is either blowing smoke or is just a knucklehead. :lol: :lol: :lol:

Understandable ... but if his job is in Richmond, why not Madison Central? Or any of the Lexington schools for that matter?

Don't get the wrong opinion, he is a very good shooter, just IMO he is not one of the best players in the state at this time. However, he can be an asset to any team.

I'm not a paid spokesman for the family. If so, they could do a lot better than me. :lol:

 

As far as minimal playing time at Boone, I don't know where that's coming from. Flannery started often and played significant minutes throughout the season. I know for a fact that he started against Rose Hill and put up a solid performance.

 

In regard to dad's job, he doesn't just work in Richmond, he does a lot of work in Eastern KY accessed by I-64. During tax season from January through March, he's in Campton almost every day... currently a 280 mile roundtrip. From that standpoint Georgetown and Richmond are nearly equidistant. If mom will still be working in Boone County, a residence in Scott County is the better choice for her.

 

Who truly knows?

 

The bottom line is why does it matter the reasons a family moves to a new county as long as no recruiting by the school is involved?
