He wasn't UT's 1st or 2nd, or even 3rd choice, they are basically taking a chance on him that he will eventually fit, as well as get over some of the other stuff mentioned in previous posts. April 2, 200818 yr Didn't really seem like BCG wanted him. Bruce recruited him a little harder. Let him go to UT and be lazy. I agree with this. I have a feeling he wasn't overly impressed with his hustle and desire, but was willing to take a calculated (and risky) chance. UK will be for the better. Find an unknown and talented JUCO from western Montana, or an overseas player. They're out there somewhere. Probably work out better anyway.

April 2, 200818 yr The thing I hate about Hopson's decision is that he opened his recruitment back up and then made a final decision before listening to the other coaches. I think he should've at least honored the scheduled meeting with BCG tomorrow night before he made the decision. Oh well, a nice pickup for Tennessee.
April 2, 200818 yr If you're referring to me, I have no bias. I have no dog in this fight, I wish UK could've gotten both of them...who wouldn't. If you're referring to people who think Miller is a better player than Liggins, that's a legit argument whether you're from Mason County or not. It's not like we're comparing a walk-on and a 5-star here. Obviously I meant Hopson, not Liggins. My mistake.
April 2, 200818 yr It doesn't take much basketball knowledge to realize UK needs a big time scorer to fill the void of Bradley and Crawford. I think Miller will have a very productive career at UK, but it is very clear he's not a big time pure scoring wing. To say he fills that role better than Hopson would is being a homer. Plain and simple... I totally agree with your first sentence, couldn't agree more. I don't know enough about either player to pass judgement, so I'll leave that to whoever else. I'll still stick to my original comment in this thread though. Here's to Darius Miller and his career as a Wildcat...

Tearing down Hopson because he didn't pick your favorite school, or tearing down a player in favor of your hometown kid regardless of the issues at hand get under my skin...
April 2, 200818 yr Hopson can improve his shot, but I do see him as a better scorer than Miller. Someone already mentioned that Hopson and BCG wouldn't click and I agree, seems as if there were some character issues, would still have loved to have him on the roster, but we'll be fine without him.
April 2, 200818 yr He was waiting to see if Pearl got the job at Indiana. He did not, Crean did, now he commits to UT.
