Dakotah Euton leaving Rose Hill

Featured Replies

You people don't know what you are talking about. If it were possible for the Euton's to stay at Rose Hill they would. They are very happy with the school and the situation there. Just because you didn't read in the paper of Mr. Euton losing his job doesn't mean it didn't happen.

First off, let me say that these are just my opinions and thoughts. I have not spoken to anyone from the family, coaching staff, or friends and I'm just thinking out loud. I have nothing but respect for the Eutons and wish them well. With that said, I don't believe that basketball was the reason for the need to move. He already has a scholarship offer at the winningest school in NCAA, so he won't "upgrade" that area of his career. The reason for moving AWAY from the area could have to do with basketball. I would think that if the Eutons really wanted to stay in the area that someone would offer him a job in this area. Maybe Dakotah wanted to play at Rupp before his career was over and with Elliott returning everyone (with Jackson rumors), he doesn't see that as a possibility at Rose Hill. Like I said, I don't think bball was the reason for the need to move, it would almost have to beed a consideration for the place they move. I think they would only be exhibiting good parenting if that were the case. I know that mostly every parent would do the exact same thing if you had a child with his skills. You would do whatever you thought was best for that child, no matter what everyone thought about it and I'd say the Eutons are doing just that.

Dakota you can go to any team but the Frankfort Mustangs ,we have never got over them beating us that time at State. Best of luck to You and your Mom and Dad. See you in blue. ZB23 :D
Come on now, those Mustangs were pretty good folks. Besides the kid that hit the shot that won that game is at McCreary Central.

Now truth be known Woolpert has been scaling back for a few years now. I'm sorry that those guys are shutting down but the facts are times are tough in the engineering business, and really Woolpert is based out of Ohio. Ashland was just a branch office.

Now I can say one thing about Frankfort, there are plenty of Engineering opportunities, whether it is with the state or the very reputable Frankfort consulting firms. As a matter of fact I know one such firm that is doing quite well in these tough times.

Now, is Mr. Euton a registered professional or is he a engineering technician? There are opportunities in both catagories. Is his expertise water & sewer or is it transportation? Frankfort can accomodate. Nothing wrong with Frankfort, great quality of life, and yes there are folks passionate about basketball. Besides, truth be know Lexington is one of the worst planned metropolitan areas around with regard to traffic. It is an absolute nightmare!!!!! Moving from Ashland to Lexington might put your family through culture shock.

Hey Mr. Euton, don't overlook Frankfort, it's not a bad place and there are few of those Mustangs still left on the high school prep scene.:ylsuper:

First off I would like to say good luck to the Euton family wherever they go!!! :thumb: They are a great family and will be sorely missed at Rose Hill!!!!

For the radio announcer who loves Rose Hill soooooo much and for those Ashland posters on here and out there who love us just as much, you got your wish!!!:madman: Now what are you going to have left to talk about now, hmmmmm? :argue: When Ashland played Rose Hill and beat them by a zillion points nothing was ever said. The minute we play well and beat you(three times this year, but who's counting), all of sudden it's an issue? :irked: I could go on, but I won't.

Why adults bash a Christian school is beyond me. Remember children learn by example!!!!:thumb:

The way I see it transfers can be handled several ways.

I) Nobody can be eligible for a transfer once he starts at a school no matter what the circumstances. This harsh and un-American but I've seen some propose it.

2) Allow open transfers among schools. Some areas already do this.

3) Establish rules and guidelines to regulate this type of movement which is the system we have. This is the way we do things in this country usually. It creates a lot of tension between disparate elements but you get compromises that no one likes but everyone agrees to try and live by.

4) You separate the various interests into smaller groups that try to fit the wishes of their members more closely.

Organizations like the KHSAA are there to grow not splinter into subgroups, that is the way they behave. It is intrinsic in the word organization. Thus we are left with the current system (3).

As long as the Eutons are following the established rules, they are free to go anywhere they choose. There is a mechanism in place to decide if those rules are being followed.

Speculation and opinions about the results of this process are allowed but only worthwhile if they follow some sort of logic. Many of the comments on this thread shoot from the hip and are detrimental to Rose Hill and the indivduals involved become victims. I could listen to hate radio or go to Catspause if I wanted that type of diatribe.

Tell me RHM without Clay to hold things together how many Ashland Rosehill kids do you tihnk will want to come back to Ashland?

If this was not a high profile player than there wouldn't have been a thread created.

Ashland is not a meca for corporate america. Its extremely hard to get a descent paying position unless you are in the medical field or a few other companies. The Lexington area is growing, and there are plenty of positions out there.

Given the fact that probably the young Euton will be playing for UK it makes perfect sense for Mr. Euton to be career searching in Lexington. I know I would want to be close to watch my children play basketball. They travel enough as it is so why not see the home games without traveling a couple of hours.

Sometimes people don't need to read between the lines because there is nothing there.

Good post.:thumb::thumb::thumb:
You just can't seem to grasp the moving thing can you? Hypocrisy may be fact, but blind naivity to facts like He's moving is quite something else. Period.

I can name you 3 or 4 kids that have moved in the past year that have been ruled ineligible. Bet that won't be the case for this instance! That's what I grasp! As for Rose Hill as an institution? I am sure it is a quality school with quality people but the way the revolving basketball door is they have a hand in the entire process. Don't try to make them out as the victim. This isn't their first rodeo!

There has been a ton of talent go thru RH the last few years, but none seems to graduate there for one reason or another, hope this helps clear it up for you.

I do recall that RH had 2 D1 players graduate last year. One is at Louisville and the other is at Middle Tennessee.;)

Please get your facts straight the only times Ashland played Rose Hill in the down years would be in the district. All you will need to do is to look it up. We did play Rose Hill one time during the regular season a few years ago it was when Ed Jenkins was the coach.

When are the Euton's moving? I will go on to speculate that the Rose Hill girls job and AD position will be open as well. This IMO is just as big a blow as Dakota. Pam has been the girls basketball coach, volleyball coach, and AD. I admit it that I have bashed Rose Hill , but I have recently worked with Pam Euton on things concerning girls sports in the 16th region and she has been nothing but a pleasure and a model representative of Rose Hill. I have enjoyed her ideas and concerns and we are not best of friends, but I do consider her a friend in the business and wish the family the best.

I don't think it was mentioned if it was regular season or District play. Reread the post. It only states when Ashland played Rose Hill.

Euton came in 4th grade. He stayed when OJ and the boys left. He toughed it out with a couple losing seasons. He stayed loyal to the school!! Whatever beef you have with Rose Hill is obvious at this point and it is getting in the way of the discussion about Dakotah Euton leaving. This thread isn't "Why Rose Hill is bad". We need to talk about the situation at hand, not past events. Thank you.

After 3 1/2 pages of posts, it's hard to just talk about the situation at hand. Personally, I know Dakota and his father Clay and I wish them the best of luck.

Now IMO I don't think Dakotah is a UK caliber player, but he can make any high school team in Kentucky alot better. His transfer will effect the region he moves into, but the Sweet 16 will not feel the ripples of the splash he makes.

I don't know any players who are UK caliber players as high school sophomores.

Apparently Tubby and staff didn't think SEC Player of the Year Chris Lofton was UK material as a high school senior.

I have seen several who as high school sophomores showed potential to become UK caliber players. Deron Feldhouse was not the most dominate high school sophomore anyone has ever seen, but he developed into one of the "Unforgettables" at UK.

Euton is a legitimate 6' 8" and about 230 pounds as a high school sophomore. He's not one of those kids who was shaving in 8th grade. I'm not convinced he's through growing vertically, and I know he's nowhere close to maturing muscularly. It is very likely he will top out around 6' 9" to 6' 10" and around 250 before he plays his first game as a freshman at UK. The crazy thing is, with that big of a body, he doesn't have to play with his back to the basket. He knocked down over 40% of his three-point attempts this season. He already handles the ball as good as any kid his age and size I've seen. When his muscles finally have a chance to catch up with his bones, his quickness and hops will improve. I haven't been around a kid with a better work ethic.

I like his chances of making all his scoffers eat their words. :thumb:

If he goes to any major program through out the state, it WILL be a big splash in the Sweet 16 over the next 2 years.
