Dakotah Euton leaving Rose Hill

Featured Replies

I will miss the Eutons very much, but I support them in everything they do. I wish you all the best of luck in anything you decide to do.

Well I personally don't know any sophomores that are UK caliber players either, but I definitely know who is not.

Time will tell. I'd rather choose for Dakotah than against him... for a lot of reasons.

And the crazy thing is with that big of a body, why would you want to shoot threes? The last big man at UK to shoot threes was Bernard Cote, we all seen what good that style of play did throughout his career. From what I seen, Euton is slow and worries to much about shooting threes than being in the post, where he should've dominated the 16th Region Tournament..
I can see where a guy like Dirk Nowitzki has been a real flop at 7 feet tall shooting all those threes and only converting 37.8% in his career. Euton has hit above 40% from three range since 6th grade. Maybe he just needs to hook up with some other big boys who can play the post.

By the way who is Deron Feldhouse? I know a Deron Feldhaus that played basketball at UK.
Three points to make here... "Hooked on Phonics" ain't worth a pinch of crap. You knew who I meant, but if pointing out a spelling error makes you feel better, I'm glad to help cheer you up. And you may have known him at UK, but unless you were from the 10th region or a member of his family, I guarantee you didn't hear as much about him as a sophomore as you have Euton.

I like Dakotah's chances. :thumb:

Can some of the RH supporters enlighten other posters about why that this is?

Here are two that I know of;

Laura Terry

Emily Queen

Good players are transferring in to Scott County with good reason. Billy Hicks does not have to recruit.

The community supports their athletic programs and the locals are crazy about their Cardinal basketball team. They have a wonderful basketball facility. They play a very competitive schedule. They learn the game of basketball from a man who understands the game. The competition in practice each day is very good. Scott County has place a bunch of kids into great college basketball programs.

It sounds like Dakota's father was looking to move into the Central Kentucky area for his employment. They are not a Catholic family so Lexington Catholic would probably be eliminated. Most of the Fayette County public schools basketball programs and coaching are easily eliminated from consideration. If it comes down to Lexington Christian or Scott County, which of those two programs are the most attractive for a player with Division I talent looking to better his game?

Why wouldn't a great player want to take the advantage of being a part of this basketball program?

Good luck to Dakota Euton and his family. I hope Mr. Euton's job works out as well for him as I think his son's basketball future at Scott County will!

If Euton is good enough to go to UK we are in bad shape at UK, the Faulker boy give him all he wanted in the regions and he is 6 feet tall. I hope he improves a lot over the next two seasons if not I don't think we will see him at UK.

If Kyle Macy becomes the head coach, they will immediately sink to the bottom of the region. Macy is an absolute joke.

Let's see: All-American, National Champion, Jersey in the rafters at Rupp. And your basketball credentials are????

Matt Jones is reporting on his blog that he will be at Scott County.......

No. Matt is reporting that Jody Demling is reporting that he will be at Scott County. Which of course comes a full 24 hours after it appeared on here.

Is his jersey retired because of coaching? If he could coach, he'd still be at Morehead. I have two numbers for you: 4 - 23.

It's amazing how talented players make a coach look better.

The greatest concentration of basketball talent in this nation is in and around cities. As wonderful as I personally think the Morehead area is, it's hard to recruit top notch "city" talent to a rural mountain school when you're competing against bigger schools in bigger cities with more to "attract" the talented players... I don't care who the coach is.

Wayne Breeden Macy's number one assistant, is one of the best coaches and recruiters around. Kyle has an extraordinary knowledge of the game. They did fine with the talent they were able to attract to Morehead. IMO, put Macy at a bigger school in a bigger market and he would have a much better chance to prove that he's a good coach.

I think Euton at UK would be another Jared Carter. He's not good enough!

I agree with this statement.

This kid is way to young to make this kind of assessment IMO. He could develop into a Larry Bird type of player if he continues to grow and improve.

Wayne Martin had a pretty good run at Morehead.

Had the Hair Doo to go with it as well. They went to the NCAA tourney as well.

Kentucky taking players like this is what has gotten them in this kind of shape. Euton may surprise me and turn out to be a good college player. I would just like to see Kentucky not settle for a verbal committment from a sophomore at Rose Hill.

Give it time and see what happens.

I don't know any players who are UK caliber players as high school sophomores.

Apparently Tubby and staff didn't think SEC Player of the Year Chris Lofton was UK material as a high school senior.

I have seen several who as high school sophomores showed potential to become UK caliber players. Deron Feldhouse was not the most dominate high school sophomore anyone has ever seen, but he developed into one of the "Unforgettables" at UK.

Euton is a legitimate 6' 8" and about 230 pounds as a high school sophomore. He's not one of those kids who was shaving in 8th grade. I'm not convinced he's through growing vertically, and I know he's nowhere close to maturing muscularly. It is very likely he will top out around 6' 9" to 6' 10" and around 250 before he plays his first game as a freshman at UK. The crazy thing is, with that big of a body, he doesn't have to play with his back to the basket. He knocked down over 40% of his three-point attempts this season. He already handles the ball as good as any kid his age and size I've seen. When his muscles finally have a chance to catch up with his bones, his quickness and hops will improve. I haven't been around a kid with a better work ethic.

I like his chances of making all his scoffers eat their words. :thumb:

Legitimate in held back a year.

Oh did he knock down that high of a percentage?

It is great he is going for Mr. Basketball, he has got to be leading the pack for the 2010 class.
