Dakotah Euton leaving Rose Hill

Cogratulations to Scott Co.!!!!

Phares and Euton will be an extremely tough combination for anyone in the 11th or the state to handle.

If Jackson follows it will be the third IMPACT athlete in two years transfering to Scott Co. Definately a testament to the quality of their program.

With over 40,000 people and growing, Scott Co. will year in year out be rated near the top. They have three middle schools feeding the program as well as impact athlete transfers it appears on an annual basis.

The competition to make the varsity team must be unbelievably difficult.

Wayne Martin had a pretty good run at Morehead.

Had the Hair Doo to go with it as well. They went to the NCAA tourney as well.

I like Wayne Martin a lot. He finished at 130-120 and is the only coach in the last 34 seasons at MSU to finish his career with a winning record. He had five winning seasons in nine at MSU. Even a terrific coach like Wayne Martin posted a couple of dud seasons in his nine years… 7-20 and 8-19.

Kyle Macy was the first coach at MSU in 19 seasons (since Wayne Martin) to win an OVC Championship. He was the first coach at MSU in 19 seasons (since Wayne Martin) to finish as runner up in the OVC. Macy’s successor Donnie Tyndall 27-33 has yet to have a winning season in two years at MSU.

I’m not cutting Tyndall who was just named OVC Coach of the Year after posting a 15-15 record and finishing third in the conference. I’m saying that it’s tough to attract top drawer talent that will compete effectively with the best nationally to the Hills of Eastern Kentucky. MSU may be a great school in a great small town, but it’s a tough gig for any coach… just ask Dick Fick.

Legitimate in held back a year.

Oh did he knock down that high of a percentage?

It is great he is going for Mr. Basketball, he has got to be leading the pack for the 2010 class.

Ya' know, YaMine I have enjoyed your posts for the most part, but I don't understand this one, it seems out of line with your previous record.

Yes, it is legitimate for a kid to be eligible to compete at age 19 within KHSAA specified dates and guidelines. In this regard, Mr. Euton is entirely legitimate.

Yes, Mr. Euton is capable of knocking down 40% or better from three point range all season. I don't have stats for the entire season handy, but I do know he shot 39 of 96 from three point range over the last 17 games for 41%.

I'm not going to address your third comment. I am however, going to post a comment you made in the Elliott Co. / Greenup Co. thread not too long ago...

It is always sad to see adults point out the negatives in high school kids? What is the need for the comment about the missed dunk? There is none, shame on you.
So does your sadness about adults pointing out the negatives in high school kids extend to all kids, or just the ones you like?
It's amazing how talented players make a coach look better.

The greatest concentration of basketball talent in this nation is in and around cities. As wonderful as I personally think the Morehead area is, it's hard to recruit top notch "city" talent to a rural mountain school when you're competing against bigger schools in bigger cities with more to "attract" the talented players... I don't care who the coach is.

Wayne Breeden Macy's number one assistant, is one of the best coaches and recruiters around. Kyle has an extraordinary knowledge of the game. They did fine with the talent they were able to attract to Morehead. IMO, put Macy at a bigger school in a bigger market and he would have a much better chance to prove that he's a good coach.

The current coach isn't having any problems. The current coach also won 12 games with the same players Macy had in the 4-23 year. Not only was he a subpar coach but he also came on the radio in pregame and called one of his players a "mommy's boy" because he was hurt and wanted to "run home to mommy". Class act.

And I'll end with that as far as Macy goes, because I don't want to threadjack.

I truly hope that this kid doesn't read this website. After reading 200 + posts, all I can think of is it's sad how some adults have bashed him.

Looks like it's official:

At least the Euton part. I wonder where Jackson will end up?

I was visiting G'town a few weeks ago & was asked about this but I hadn't heard anything at that time so I did not comment but now that it is true I would just like to say best of luck to Dakota. To bad he wasn't there the last 2 years so that he could have practice against all their talent each day. The talent cioming back is no where near what they have had the last two years. If you have ever seen a Coach Hicks practice you can see why the talent is always really good. He develops his talent better than anyone! Even his big people can handle the ball & shoot it. Euton will develop under Coach Hicks tremendously! A great decision by the Euton family.

I'm still amazed, at how the Euton family moving, is such a mind boggling/life changing event to some of you. All reports are, the fathers' job is gone and he's accepting another related position, in the Engineering field. Yet some of you suggest, he could find a "different or another" type of job, if he really wanted to stay....I'm amazed.

So all the years of education, on the job training and money toward his field, he should give up and start flipping burgers? I'm appalled.

His son is a UK verbal commit. Obviously UK liked Dakota, or the offer would have never been tenured. Instead of all the negativity, that fans across this great commonwealth like to spew, why don't we all wish the Euton family well and hope Dakota, can continue to improve during the remaining of his High School career.

Is his jersey retired because of coaching? If he could coach, he'd still be at Morehead. I have two numbers for you: 4 - 23.

I'm still betting his basketball knowledge exceeds all of us "experts" on this board.

Maybe so, but that has nothing to do with coaching or teaching the game.

Well said S3. Are some so blinded for their dislike for certain schools that anyone associated with those schools they dislike or rag on anything they do. I am glad when any young athletic can reach and fullfill their dreams. While others on this site seem to relish in a young kid not succeeding just becuase who they have played for....unreal. I wish the very best for the whole Euton family .

Phares top SR. 6'8

Euton top JR. 6'8

Guyn top JR. 6'3

Manning top 9th 6'3

Jaskson top JR. 6'5? maybe

Scott County will have a team that will be Rated high in USA Today Top 25!

Would it be okay for all UK commits in Kentucky just transfer to Scott County where they are promised to develop? Any kid with aspirations to play at UK or D1 would be making a great decision to go to Scott County, is that it?

Should we set up an online application for admissions to Scott County?

Good luck to the Euton's and to Dakota, I saw some vidio clip of you and I was highly impressed with your Basketball skills.

Good grief, how many people do they have to have before they open another high school? Not only do they have so many people in the county but they impact guys who come in after their freshman year like Jones, Hundley, Gyun, Euton, etc. etc.

If Euton and Jackson go to Scott Co. you can go ahead and give em the crown next season. I dont fault any kid for transferring especially if the family is moving or its job related so I have nothing negative to say on this subject. I think the Cardinals will be extremely good though if he goes there. Heck , they will dominate if they both end up there.
