Personally I feel worse for the Holmes players. If they beat Bellevue by 30 or more, their thugs, and showed no sportsmanship. If they score 100 points or more, the cry will be, they have no class. Holmes if they only win by 20 or so, and Bellevue will cry, see we belong, but most fans will know that Holmes was just being kind. See I feel worse for the Holmes kids because they are being put into a spot that they shouldn't have to be in, as for them, this game will be no fun at all!

Trust me Holmes will not run up the score on anyone. They could have beat Greenup Cty by 70-80 points like Elliot Cty but Coach Henley would never allow that.I am sure they will have fun and would rather play Bellevue than Conner in the first round.

50 is a realistic margin, with Holmes holding back. The 36th district should be ashamed at sending Bellevue and Dayton to the regionals.

Beechwood (#4 team in 35th district) beat Bellevue by 26 and 28 points in the two times they met. No disrespect toward them but if Beechwood beat them that bad I feel sorry for the Bellevue kids when they meet Holmes thurs.

 

Bellevue hasn't seen the type of defensive pressure that Holmes is going to throw at them or the athletes for that matter. If Holmes presses the whole game, I wouldn't be surprised to see Bellevue score less than 30 points and Holmes in the upward 80's or 90's.

 

I'm all about showing class but I think Holmes should really send a message in this game. Hate to say it, but the Bellevue kids don't belong here. The only nky team to beat Holmes this year will be watching from the stands which is terrible for those young men.

They will have been without a game since district finals on Friday and if you do this (sit them down) are you being fair to your own team who will be another three days before semis. You definitely want to be sharp and not playing game situation does not help this in my opinion. Look for Coach Henley and staff to find a way to get the starters some quality minutes perhaps after getting a managable lead he has the team work on running their offense in sort of a stall situation to melt clock in the event that down the road they face that situation during crunch time of a game. I know Coach Henley he will not want to embarass Bellvue but will want to win comfortably and try and gain something from it for down the road.

Very good points. I think we'll see Holmes play their starters the whole first quarter and half of the second quarter, subbing frequently as they normally do then letting the non starters finish the second quarter.

 

Second half the starters will start, play half the quarter and be out with about 3 or 4 mins left, and we won't see them again.

 

The scary thing about Holmes is they normally go 11 deep anyways so the only ones who will really be getting a break will probably be Henderson, R. Johnson, Clark, and Avery. Other than that, the majority of the time we'll see the following lineup in there:

 

J. Johnson, Pittman, Humphrey, Riley, and Nelson. Shortly in to the 4th quarter we'll see the bench emptied and the JV guys in there.

Have to agree with you there. I stated in an earlier post, I'd send a message in this first game if I were Holmes. Play your regular rotation up until the 4th quarter. If it gets out of hand, it gets out of hand. 4th quarter clear the bench and let the JV guys get some spotlight.

I think the region would make more money by advertising the Holmes/Bellevue game as "The Holmes 2008 Dunk Contest" than they would as is.

I agree that how much they win by is irrelevant but it is important for them to stay sharp in anticipation of a tough semi-final matchup on Tuesday.

 

It will have been 9 days between the district finals and the region semi-final game. You don't want your team coming out flat for a tough semi-final game.
