I don't think anyone is really saying Conner isn't a scary team to play at home come tournament time. Everyone remembers the upset they pulled against #1 Covcath 3 years ago.

 

They have been beaten by Dixie twice this year, both by double digits but Boone did the same thing and got upended by them in the district tourney.

 

You may beat Conner in the regular season by double digits but when it comes tournament time they will give you a very tough game. Hicks is one of the best coaches at getting his team ready for the tournament.

Get the film from Willie. Stop their strengths, exploit their weaknesses. When it's time to pull the starters, pull them. Can you imagine keeping the starters in the game longer than they should be and then getting hurt? There's not a hole deep enough for Coach Henley to hide in.

 

As for sharp, my guess is that Holmes bench could beat Bellevue. Practicing against them will be better for them than that game.

 

I don't think getting film from Willie will help Bellevue that much. There's a big difference in seeing Mcgraw and Kowolonek and then seeing the rather small Bellevue playes on defense.

 

IMO Bellevue will need to play a stall game and hold the ball once they get it upcourt to keep from getting beat badly.

Do people really think it matters whether Holmes starters play, don't play, win by one, win by 100 against Bellevue when Holmes plays in the semis on Monday and possibly in the finals on Tuesday? Do you really truly believe that will matter. If the answer is no, can we please move on? This is about the most mindless discussion I have ever read. How about some Bluebirds telling me how happy Willie was with his draw?

I don't think that too many people will blame Holmes if they win by 30 or 40 points with their starters in until the third quarter because everyone that knows anything about the game knows that you have to keep your guys sharp when you are trying to win the region.

Not trying to hijack the thread or anything like that. Just seems like a good place to ask this question. First congrats to the Villa Lightning. I truly enjoyed their kids and their coaches when we played them this year. Great guys and proud of them for making it to the regional.

 

My question then is this? Why all the love and affection shown toward Villa, a team that clearly benefitted from the fact that their District is a blind draw district (no offense intended Ludlow guys, back off), yet Bellevue has been absolutely villified for doing EXACTLY the same thing? All this while the following are true:

 

Bellevue and Villa Split their conference games this year.

 

Villa was picked pre-season to be runner-up in the conference and ended up third.

 

Bellevue was picked no higher than fifth pre-season and finished second.

 

The Tigers expected to struggle to win 10 games yet won 15.

 

Holmes blew out over 2/3 rds of the Regional field and would and will do the same again given the chance. they ARE among the elite 4 or 5 teams in this state. Yet, because of a BLIND DRAW Bellevue gets them in the Regional. again, not anyone's fault, the luck of the draw.

 

Remember it takes a MAJORITY of the members of each district to decide on Seeding. The MAJORITY (that's three schools) choose not to seed in the 36th but it seems as if the whole issue is being laid at the feet of the Bellevue program. Just wondering why?

 

Again, props to the Blue Lightning, way to go gentlemen!! I'd just like someone, anyone, to give credit to the Tigers for doing what they had to do to get where they are. THEY DIDN'T VOTE TO HAVE THE BLIND DRAW ALL BY THEMSLVES FOLKS. These are kids and I think some folks on here have forgotten that.

I believe it is because it's the first time EVER for the Blue Lightning to reach the fregional. Next year won't be so kind! Congrats to ALL who made it this far. Your season is a success no matter what the outcome of the tourney! Good Luck to all!

No, I don't think so. If there was a true answer there I'm pretty certain I could figure it out.

I agree with b77 here... It seems as if everyone is making it out as if Bellevue manipulated the system, when in reality, they played by the rules, voted by the rules, and did what was asked of them to get to this point. JMO...

I'm not going to say that this scenario will play out but what if...???

 

St. Henry has a pretty easy time with Villa but competitive enough to stay sharp.
