Sandman Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 More than a little surprised by this final. Ryle improves to 9-12, Highlands falls to 15-7. McGraw only scores seven for Highlands, who are led by Eaton and Watson with 13 each. Ryle gets 16 from Maley and 14 from McLeish. All I know, any other details?
Oldbird Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Kowolonek was out with a concussion. McGaw went out before halftime (I am assuming stiffness in his back) and did not return. Highlands got close several times in the 3rd, but never could get over the hump.
Eta Rho Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 I wouldn't look much in to this loss. Highlands played without Mcgraw much of the game and Kowolonek was out. HHS is still the #2 team in the region IMO.

Coach Schlarman played it on the safe side with him as he knew this game had no meaning at all.

75center Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Glad to hear he's ok. McGraw continues to be a concern. It's a shame he's had to deal with the injuries so long.
Qryche11 Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 No big deal on this game as it was scheduled before the season and who knew Simpson would be out, Kowolonek hurt and McGraw having stiffness on day and half rest from the Holmes shootout. Credit Ryle though for coming in and taking care of business but when you have 3 guys out and you are basically playing Sophomores it is to be expected they would be undermanned.

It appeared that the coach may have been looking at adding a little varsity seasoning to his squad on Saturday.

HHS is still the #2 team in the region IMO. People may disagree with me, but if you are going to say that HHS is #2 because of the team they are when all of their players on the floor (not because of their W's and L's), then IMO CovCath is #2 because most of their losses came with Bondick out.

Better than scheduling it after the season, I guess...

If I'm not mistaken, Ryle lost Nichols to an injury, and Russell quit, so you could say they were short-handed as well...

This happens with many of the good teams. One of Boone's losses was with McFarland out. In the end, it doesn't matter who is out. It is a team, and only the W's and L's count. That's why it bugs me when people try to rank teams and players based on what-ifs, upside, etc. It's all just opinion until the actual head-to-head game and matchups occur.
TURBOENNIS Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 Must of still had this line from another thread,"Tired legs and questionable decisions costs the Birds but a gutty performance." Dawgs wore them out so they were crushed by RYLE

Zach Lother didn't see varsity action in this one and the coach is adding a little varsity seasoning to the squad? Who else saw the court, that usually doesn't, that would indicate the seasoning of the team?
