Ryle 57 Highlands 42

Zach Lother didn't see varsity action in this one and the coach is adding a little varsity seasoning to the squad? Who else saw the court, that usually doesn't, that would indicate the seasoning of the team?

Think he meant Hurtt??

Perhaps Mr. Lother was ill or had a slight injury. I do not know because I am not the coach and do not try and coach from the stands much like others on here. And no I did not mean Hurtt. McGraw played the first half and did not play the second. Kowolonek and Simpson did not dress. Those that saw action in the game were Eaton, Hurtt, Messer, Watson, Grote, Grubbs and Gordon if I remember right. I would call that some seasoning for Grubbs and Gordon most definitely since they saw pretty extensive action in the second half.

Good for them! I would have thought that they may have gone deeper on their bench. How many minutes did Grubbs-Messer-Gordon get?

Somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes each. Grubbs was rather impressive with a nice little baby hook.

Big win for Ryle! Congrats.

Nice times! Grubbs reminds me of Shaq...sometimes he's dominant other times seems complacent. But he has great potential! Gordon also has impressed me this year at the JV level. Hope he grows...he has a very nice game. Messer got minutes and none for Turner or Guidugli...very interesting! I wonder why?

Seven 7 points in the half for McGraw. He missed 3 layups and several shots.Maybe the Ryle players just play better defense than Holmes. Are we sure the coach took him out for health reasons or was it frustration?

Come on now. He puts 32 up on Holmes and Willie is going to take him out for missing some layups?

People may disagree with me, but if you are going to say that HHS is #2 because of the team they are when all of their players on the floor (not because of their W's and L's), then IMO CovCath is #2 because most of their losses came with Bondick out.

Legitimate point, but if we're going on W's and L's Highlands is still the #2 team. They beat CCH and Boone.

The Birds played 6 guys against Holmes on Thursday. The Birds then lost 2 of those 6. So Willie was playing at one player in his 5 that got no action against Holmes plus brought bench players in that played zero minutes against the Dogs.

The Birds are going to have to win in the tourney with 6 (7 if Simpson returns) players. That can be a challenge.

I think you are way off here. Holmes plays ferocious defense and I cannot see anyone in the region playing any better Defense. Period.

Be serious, Ryle's defense does not compare to Holmes'. The atmosphere for this game seemed to really get to the birds, IMO. They came out flat and it didn't seem like anybody wanted to be there. Also, this game was played on the day of the Sweethearts dance, so not only could this have been on their minds, but also, there was NO STUDENT SECTION at all. It was a very boring game that seemed to turn into a overhyped JV game.

Also, Greg could have been taken out due to a stiff back, but it seemed to me that he almost took himself out in the second half. He wasn't hitting any of his normal shots (which could be a result of his back), but he might have just been having on off day. He didn't seem as enthused as usual. I'm not saying he wasn't hurt, whatsoever, but he might have had an off day.

but also, there was NO STUDENT SECTION at all. .

To be honest, the only difference was that the students were actually in attendance against Holmes. They didnt make any noise but they were there.

Raiders only give up 42....that's some mighty fine D.
