Ryle 57 Highlands 42

Featured Replies

Highlands isn't my team. I'm simply stating that Ryle shouldn't get too excited over this win considering 3 of Highlands best players were out with injuries and they basically played with Eaton and Hurtt and then a bunch of sophomores.

Also for a team like Ryle, who hasn't made the region tournament since Doellman was there to say another program isn't that good when they've been to the region tournament every year for the past probably 10 years? Well thats quite comical. Highlands doesn't have players quitting every year in the middle of the season....:sssh:

Ryle made regional tournament in 2006, after Doellman. Highlands makes it to the regional tournament every year because they have to beat Bellevue or Dayton or Newport to get into the region-- doesn't actually compare to having to beat Conner, St. H or Boone (SK in old district). There have been many years where 3 or 4 teams in the 33rd district were top ten in the region and some years where they were two or three teams in top 25 of state.

Highlands has a quality program, but to say they have a better program because they have been to regional last 10 years speaks more about their district than the strength of the program.

Who has the most RECENT 9th region Championship? :sssh:

And it's not the kids that were quitting becuase of bad attitudes, it was the previous coaching staff. If Highlands played in the 33rd district theres no way they would have made the region tournament 10 years in a row.

Highlands has 3 STATE appearances in the past 10 years. (Dating back to 97-98)

33rd district has 2 STATE appearances in the past 10 years. (St Henry, Ryle)

33rd district teams record vs Highlands over the past 10 years: 19-47 (ouch)

The numbers don't lie. Highlands has only had 2 years in the past ten where they had a losing record against the 33rd district.

04/05- 1-4

Numbers dont lie.Highlands is clearly a power house in the 9th region.... While Ryle, not as much, but congrats on the win.Hope it gives the Ryle kids something to build on come tournament play.

Bashing both programs is pretty ridiculous to be quite honest. It is clearly evident that Highlands was missing their key ingredients and Ryle has had their own share of issues this year with players leaving.

My only take on the situation is that Highlands has proven they are a top team year in year out and have won 3 9th Region Championships in last 10 yrs. Ryle had Div 1 Doellman 6 yrs ago and he carried them to Lexington. Congrats to both but with the difference in enrollment wouldnt you think Ryle would be able to produce stronger teams consistently? Or do they lose alot of those kids to Boone Co? With Cooper High coming, will they lose potential athletes there as well? I am just curious because that is such a booming area out there.

Congrats to the Raiders on the win and good luck in the Tournament. If I had one team to pick in the 33rd that I'd like to see Highlands face in the 9th Region Tourney it would be Ryle.

Thanks for proving my post correct.

1. Ryle has the most recent 9th region Championship.

2. Highlands would not have made the Region tournament 10 years in a row if they were in the 33rd.

You make no sense at all. Take Doellman off that Ryle team and Ryle does nothing in past 10 yrs period.

33rd district RECORD vs HIGHLANDS the past ten years:

19-47

For a DISTRICT to only win 19 games combined against a TEAM over a 10 year period is pretty pathetic.Thats not too much to really boast about. Also, as I eluded to, only twice in the past 10 years has Highlands had a losing record against 33rd district teams. That doesn't mean they still couldn't have made it out of the district. Bottom line is this...Ryle has had one good season in that ten year span. Highlands continually has great tradition and even has a state championship runner up to add to that resume.

 That's ridiculous. Take the best player off of any team and they don't do as well. And the school is, what, 15 years old? I would say we've done fairly well to jump in and win region in that amount of time.

Highlands is proving that if you take the 3 best players off their team they are a very good JV team.

Who wouldn't be?????

Congrats Raiders! Hopefully we'll meet in the regionals:thumb:

Raiders/Regionals=Oxymoron

Your right I make no sense, just because you disagree with me. Ryle has been to two region championships in their history. 1-1. As Habib said, take the best player off of any team and they wouldnt be great.

In case you're interested, there is a thread on the Raiders last game. Maybe you could post something about their most recent performance at Dixie the other night. Or you can stay here and argue history (badly) for awhile longer.
