Think he feels good that one of the premier players in the region was sitting on Highlands bench? I'd be a little worried.

 

Well I'm fairly sure he isn't going to go in thinking "Shoot Simpson is playing they should get us this time." Like many have said, if they play how they can no one beats Holmes. However, I am starting to worry that they might actually need a loss before region...

Oh I understand. I noticed the brace on his wrist but didn't think too much of it. I just thought he sat because of the DI offer or that GW didn't want him to risk injury. He should be a big help as he plays very tough inside.

Highlands proved last night that they can play with Holmes any night of the week. Highlands had two spurts in the game and Henderson was on the floor for the second one that occurred in the second half. If Holmes is that much superior than other 9th region teams they should not have been forced into overtime by CCH or HHS. Holmes is number 1 right now, but they are by no means a lock to win the 9th region.

If Holmes brings their A game, no one in the 9th can play with them. It's normal for fans to think that, but one can dream.

This game reminds me of the Holmes Cov Cath game. . Overtime and Holmes ran away with it.

 

Except for the Holmes/CovCath game was frustratingly ugly with both teams shooting poorly...I guess you could say that the overtime period was similar. The level of play and intensity at the Holmes/Highlands game though was something completely different. Take the CCH game and multiply it by 10. Last night's game everyone just played WAY UP. It was off the charts! Great game to watch. :thumb:

I'm guessing with Holmes beating CCH by 9 in OT then beating HHS by 12 in OT, you really don't want to face the Bulldogs after 4 qtrs.

Bottom line: records don't matter in March ---> the team who's is playing the best then, will go to state!!! Other than that Holmes is undefeated in the 9th region, OT or not.

They are related and Arnold has two younger brothers on the 8th grade team.

And one more quick question I have for the Holmes supporters... I noticed a "Rice" and an "Arnold" on the Holmes roster... Are these any relation to Greg and Kejuan?

 

They are related Greg Rice, James Rice, and Arnold are all cousins.Also Arnold has two younger brothers playing eigth grade.

I now understand why Holmes' coach doesn't allow them to dunk in warm-ups. Its because they have a tendancy to miss many layups. Not that it really matters, but when Holmes inbounded it with 1.7 sec left, there was IMO a definant foul by Highlands that i dont see how the officials missed. Can't complain about the officiating, they did a great job Thursday night. Even if Highlands has Stein, Simpson, and McGraw healthy, i still think Holmes is better by 10 points. Most of NKY knows that Holmes did not play well for the first 3 quarters last night. Arrez and Ricardo make for a deadly combination. I must say that I have never seen a 6 ft gaurd like Arrez that can catch the ball, take one dribble, then throw it down 2 handed. Holmes is very athletic and they really hurt you on the boards unless you are physical and clear them out. Highlands played pretty good Thursday night with the exception of Free Throw shooting. Thats one of the things that has to be preached over and over. You have to hit the free throws down the stretch.

The first game of the year, Holmes got a technical foul for dunking after the fifteen minute mark. Since then it seems Coach Henley has tamed the Dogs a bit. Yes they dunk, but there is no grabbing the rim.

While Highlands played extrmely well, somethng everyone needs to realize is Holmes played TERRIBLE for the first 3 quarters. Granted some of that needs to be credited to Highlands D, wide open lay ups and throwing the ball away many times have nothing to do with Highlands defense.

 

For Holmes to play that bad and still be able to pull out the W shows just how good they really are. Name any other team in nky that would be able to come back against Highlands at Highlands being down 10 with 4 minutes to play. (CCH...MAYBE).

 

I have no dog in this fight, just simply stating my opinion as an outsider. Highlands is good but not on Holmes level yet. The best teams in the region find ways to win and close out games which Holmes did Thursday night. Being defending region champs and winning 14 straight agaist NKY competition, Holmes is still on top and should have no comparisons to them. As a lot like to say, "you have to beat the man, to be the man."

 

With that said though, CCH, Highlands, and Boone all could potentially give Holmes a run for their money come regionals. But until someone knocks them off, Holmes is the hands down favorite. Boone will get their shot Monday to prove Holmes and their fans wrong that this is a one horse race.
