As a Florida State fan, I have this to say: I'd been predicting a 37-10 UK win since the matchup was announced. Considering that point of view, Florida State can come away from this feeling some pride.

 

The Seminoles ran for 204 yards (and averaged over 6 yards a carry) and had 480 total yards --- and they did this despite having just six offensive linemen. In a situation where they could have laid down and said, "We're beat before we kick off," they competed well and came back from a hole to make a game of it until the shorthanded defense got tired.

 

Drew Weatherford, who has never impressed me, acquitted himself well yesterday; this is the first time that I've thought he might actually be the right QB at the right time. The defensive front seven, another area where the Seminoles were lacking in numbers, also played very well.

 

I would say that a lot of underclassmen who didn't make the trip to Nashville will find themselves either pushed out of the first string or facing a hard fight when spring practice starts in Tallahassee. Coaches Andrews and Fisher have a lot of data they wouldn't have had if not for one tutor calling out answers for an online, open-book music history test. Heck, the staff may want to go find that tutor and buy him a steak dinner. :lol:

 

The thing that didn't impress me was the thing that hasn't impressed me in a long, long time: FSU's lack of mental discipline. The pair of unsportsmanlike conduct flags called on Carter's pick-six was all too typical of Seminole football over the past decade or so.

 

However, I was very pleased to see how upset Coach Bowden was at halftime. He's been too laid-back for too long, and we all loved seeing him put on the headset and get his head in the game. A college head coach simply cannot do his job without a headset to take part in the communications of his staff.

 

Finally, I'd just like to say this to UofL and Cincinnati fans: Y'all have to put up with that level of officiating every week?!? I feel sorry for you. :lol: Both Kentucky and FSU rightfully had reason to complain about the officiating displayed by the crew the Big East sent to Nashville.

1. I can agree with FSU's lack of dicipline - I have said the same thing for a long time. I am glad to see an FSU fan post that. They do get way to many stupid penalties. Louisville along with Tennesse are other teams that I have said does the same thing. Both Tenn. and FSU especially are always loaded with talent and great athletes but both play as undiciplined as anyone. That is not said to blast either team, JMO

 

2. I can also agree on the officiating of the game, it was bad (at best) both ways and you are right in that both teams had a right to complain about officiatng. I do think that te FSU "celbration" penalty on the "dive" into the endzone was legit though. I hate to see a player in any game anywhere do that kind of thing. I guess that I am old school in I say "act like you have been there (endzone) before and plan on being there again" and hand the ball to the official or lay it down and go to the sidelines.

A great sendoff for these Seniors!! Plus, a victory over a Coach like Bobby Bowden and Florida St. First back to back bowl wins since the Bear was roaming the sidelines in Lexington. Keeps the momentum going.

I like and respect Bowden but his rant at halftime about the flip in the endzone penalty made him sound stupid. I also have watched alot of football and this is called almost every time.

No he's not the 2nd UK back to have a 1,000 yard season. Do you remember Mark Higgs, Sonny Collins, Moe Williams or Raffy before. That is for a SINGLE SEASON. For a career way more than that have rushed for 1,000 yards.

Many FSU players have long confused the difference between the "swagger" that past Seminole teams had, and just outright being undisciplined and being thugs. I think the penalties and such is their way of compensating for the lack of swagger these days.

 

FSU got very lucky on the double personal foul penalties that saw them kicking off from their own 7 1/2 yard line. UK only got the ball on their own 40, while I would have expected them to be around the FSU 35 or so.

Great game for the Cats. Hope to believe that Brooks has this program headed upward. Love the job he's done, however, I did question his decision to take the 3 points off the scoreboard late in the first half and try for the TD.

 

This group of seniors deserve appreciation for what they have contributed to turning this program around.

It was really not that close. It was more like UK playing against itself. They could've very easily put up 50 points yesterday, but were limited by foolish mistakes. Also, there would have been no chance at the end if the UK player would've fell to the ground with the interception.

You, sir, are wrong. UK only dominated one quarter of the game. The rest of the time, FSU played evenly with them.
