Is it time for a multiplier?

One more thing and I will quit this childish arguement that I thought was a disscussion. In no shape form or fashion is it fair for a team the dresses nearly a 100 commited football players that have support from home, community, and school compete against schools that do good to get 40/50 players out for various reasons.

Most of the kids that go to private schools have parents/guardians that are very supportive of them thus the fact they are at the private school. Public schools on the other hand have kids from all backgrounds and don't have the support at home to excel in anything let alone sports. Alot of them have more pressing issues at home instead of going to after school workouts or practice. Unfortuantly that is the truth of our society and world today. I just don't see how it fair for the private or open enrollment schools bully the public schools. That is a behavior that has not been premited in society for hundreds of years now.

This in no way is a blackeye on the private/open enrollment schools. They are and should be very proud of what they accomplish. I personally love to watch those teams play, but not against schools with a 1/3 of the numbers. For most of those schools practice is more challenging than the games with their 100+ players.

Of coures the private school kids are bigger, faster and stronger they better be for all of the advantages they have!

BTW Leonidas and the 7,000 spartans/greeks were eventually overan by the 180,000 persians at the battle of Thermopylae. It was not until all the Greeks united together did they win.

Well aware of that....big fan of Greek history and am re-reading The Spartans for the third time. But they didn't throw up their arms and say: we can't compete with the Persians, they have too many advantages. They fought valiantly and refused to just roll over and quit. Their ultimate efforts showed and inspired the Greeks to unite and overcome those advantages that the Persians had...thank goodness. The success at Palatea could not have happened without the sacrifices of Thermopylae.

Thermopylae - Isn't that a D5 team somewhere east of Sandusky?

But if you remove all Private Schools from the equation, will the population of Open Enrollment schools that win a large % of the Titles be pariahs next? Beechwood and Highlands each have the opportunity to draw from outside thier geographical district; is that advantage any different from the advantage people say Private Schools have? All of Louisville is Open Enrollment, what about them? Plus I heard(not confirmed) that Lone Oak is Independent/Open Enrollment.

My understanding is that Bowling Green, as a magnet school in the city of BG and in their county, can attract athletes from a wide geographic area. So, instead of listing two independents as having "Open Enrollment" you should list all the schools in Kentucky that allows and the ones that do not.

Secondly, my understanding of the Beechwood Independent School system is one has to be a resident of Park Hills to attend. Now that does not sound like Open Enrollment to me...

Have you seen anyone give up and quit????? Don't think so.:sssh:

But what fair is fair! This is HS sports yes it teaches life lessons but don't punish the kids that don't have the means or oppurtunites to go to private schools. That is wrong in everyway.

Their are reasons for D1 and D3 Collegiate athletics. Different levels of money available for schollys. I think that system works pretty well.

Any high school kid I know, and that's a lot, would never use the excuses that the adults are using after a loss. Or in this case, losses. Who is being "punished"?

As for the blue, there are 6 classes in KY high school football. Unlike the NCAA that has four divisions and NAIA...

If that is true about Beechwood, then okay, but is there another school district that covers Park Hills?

I just gave those as quick examples. I wish I had a list of all schools in KY with some type of Open Enrollment policy.

You seem to have a misunderstanding of the demographics of the private schools in KY. I can tell you that there are plenty of kids with the social and economic problems you're blaming for some school's lack of success.

This is completely incorrect. Beechwood serves Ft. Mitchell, although as an independent district can and does accept tuition students. I know of at least one student who lives in Boone County and attends Beechwood.

Bowling Green has a reciprocal agreement and a cap on the number of students from outside their district with Warren County Schools. Bowling Green City kids can also attend Warren County schools and they do. BG has no agreements with districts or students outside of Warren County.

I dont think he was at all blaming the kids for anything. Only trying to make a point of the different cultures, anyways thats the way I understood it.

So Trinity and St. X would be 9A?

Yes, but what I'm saying is that the cultures aren't as different as one might think.

NAIA has two divisions. 4 for NCAA, 2 for NAIA, even up your ways, 4 + 2 = 6 doesn't it?

Yes, but what I'm saying is that the cultures aren't as different as one might think.

At one time I worked in a private school and yes they are quiet different than the public schools I have worked and attended.

In no way are my rants (perceived by some as attacks) personal or degrading towards any group or system. I just don't think the different types of schools can be treated as equals in a land where the haves and have nots has such a large gap IMO.

from having experience in both Public and Private schools.....

they are both different worlds......

and to say the field is level is absurd.

The records pretty much confirm that.
