December 10, 200718 yr When X and T use a multiplier, they're still the 2 biggest enrollments. That wouldnt change a thing. It would, however affect Lex Cath, LCA, NCC, Cov HC, Owens Cath and a few others. With exception to Lex Cath, the others aren't that dominant. Maybe, Lex Cath will opt to move up a class and then all the bickering would subside. Lexington Christian is becoming as dominant as Lexington Catholic, if not more. In the past 2-3 years, I believe they have a state title or state championship game appearance in baseball, girls basketball and football.

December 10, 200718 yr And it's only b/c they have a religion class? Christians that are not Catholic are wanting to send their child to private schools too. Isn't LCA the only option for those in Lex? I think Calvary Christian in NKY could do the same thing. Not sure which private schools in Louisville are non-Catholic.
December 10, 200718 yr Watch out!! The new X and T are comming..... I absolutely believe they could take X and T's success in football and translate it to all sports. Unlike where X and T are just football and golf.:sssh:
December 10, 200718 yr I absolutely believe they could take X and T's success in football and translate it to all sports. Unlike where X and T are just football and golf.:sssh: And in a wide range of sports, yes there is success; and the success is building a great Tradition at both schools. Now, if the Fayette Co. schools would only schedule LC or LCA in any sport.
December 10, 200718 yr But all the haves are not only the Private Schools, and all the have nots are not only Public Schools. Will we put a 1.25 multiplier on Football clasification for Open Enrollment/Independent? Will there be a 1.43 multiplier on Urban Louisville/NKY/Lexington Schools? Plus, didn't only two Private Schools win Championships? Didn't win all of them. If T and X are put onto the same side of the bracket permanently, word is the main propnents behind any Public/Private split, or multiplier are going to cease talk about that. FWIW- X and T have only met I think 4 times for the title. It's not like it happens every year. Look at the total number of Private schools in the state and then look at how many were in contention to win state. That is where the real story is. No way should that small a population of the total schools make up such a large % of the schools competing in Louisville on finals weekend.
December 10, 200718 yr Agreed has to be!! In all seriousness after the games this weekend something must be done in order to level the playing field. Or the gap between the haves and the have nots will only get bigger in athletics. What happened this weekend to make you feel that way? Ft. Campbell upset not only a private school but also a team from N. Ky, thus overcoming both of those "advantages". LexCath soundly beat Lone Oak, but I think we need to be realistic about that win. No dis to Lone Oak, but that wasn't a real solid football team across the board. First appearance in the finals in quite some time and frankly they didn't have to beat anyone all that good to make it there. I think if Bell had played them, the result would have been the same...loss by Lone Oak (LO fans don't beat me up. I love what you guys did this year and hope like heck your success continues. But it will take a continued effort like this years to catch up with Lex Cath which has been doing this for quite some time. You can do it however.) Highlands beat BG which had a very solid team. Highlands is definitely not a private school. So they didn't have that advantage. Yes they permit out of district students, but 20 or 21 of the starting positions were manned by kids that live in Ft. Thomas so the open enrollment "advantage" was not a factor in this game either. Beechwood, a public school squeaked by LCA, a private school. Central a public school that I'm reasonably certain doesn't get many out of district students beat Belfry another public school. Only the X and T game lends some support to your theory in my opinion. And as I've stated and continued to believe, their primary advantage has every thing to do with size and not much else. Until the other big 6A schools make the same committment (if ever) to football and all their coaches and all their players buy into football the way the coaches and players have at X and T, the result will be the same (yes, I do believe that they do work harder and I'm not afraid to admit it. It may not be PC, but I certainly believe it and I believe it based on conversations I've had with a lot of coaches at other schools both in N. Ky and throughout the state). Of course we could eliminate X and T from the competition and make it easy for those other 6A schools to win, but how is that truly an accomplishment? The most damaging point to people's contention that X and T have these great advantages is the fact that they generally don't produce any where near the D1 athletes that public schools do. So its safe to say that their recruting and their acceptance of students from various counties and states really isn't getting them these wonderful, make a difference, star athletes. And that fact cannot be ignored or refuted.

No way should that small a population of the total schools make up such a large % of the schools competing in Louisville on finals weekend. Why shouldn't it make up such a large percentage if a great percentage of private schools are placing, and have for some time placed, a greater emphasis on football than the public schools?

No way should that small a population of the total schools make up such a large % of the schools competing in Louisville on finals weekend. But if you remove all Private Schools from the equation, will the population of Open Enrollment schools that win a large % of the Titles be pariahs next? Beechwood and Highlands each have the opportunity to draw from outside thier geographical district; is that advantage any different from the advantage people say Private Schools have? All of Louisville is Open Enrollment, what about them? Plus I heard(not confirmed) that Lone Oak is Independent/Open Enrollment.

To be completely transparent, one of the non Ft. Thomas kids on the Highlands team is already receiving 2008 Mr. Football hype. Has Newport ever had a Mr. Football?

We're not getting our "fair share" of the titles.
December 10, 200718 yr I believe that if you look in Tn. you will find not only a multiplier but also a split for those that offer financial assistance. There may be more to it than just money. There are two classifications for private that refuse. I know that there are some private in the other division also. 5 classes of no financial assistance which include all public(and more I'm just not clear on what), 2 private classes with financial assistance.

Someone started a thread on the bolded. A private school that offers no financial aid to it's students and just won the state title in football in TN, in the public school class. http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/showthread.php?t=137836
