December 11, 200718 yr In no way am I making excuses. Every place I have ever been that has never been a factor, we were going line up and beat you no matter what, or atleast try. Faliure is not an option no matter the odds. You are going to have exceptions to the rules in any situations. Everyone knows that. What you have to look at is the norms in a given population. That is what I am doing. Sure you will have well to do kids in a public schools and a few poor kids with finacial aide in private schools but you must look at the largest population in your sampling. If you don't you are just seeing things the way you want to not matter what is staring you in the face!

Your past descriptions may have been describing everyplace that you have been, but they do not accuratley reflect everyplace that there is. Thats the only problem I have with your posts on the subject.
December 11, 200718 yr Now that we've had a year to see the six-class system in action ... is it time to put a multiplier on private schools? The best I can figure, a 1.5 multiplier (adding 50 percent to the schools' current enrollment figure) would have the following effects: Trinity, St. Xavier and Covington Catholic would be in 6A. Lexington Catholic would be in 5A. DeSales and Christian Academy of Louisville would be in 4A. Newport Catholic, Owensboro Catholic and Covington Holy Cross would be in 3A. Lexington Christian, Louisville Holy Cross and Bishop Brossart would be in 2A. Bethlehem and Kentucky Country Day would remain in Class A. Highlands would then petition to drop back to 4A. They do not want to see LexCath in 5A:thumb:

December 12, 200718 yr If any team wins a state championship they automatically demonstrate that they have an unfair advantage. The next year a multiplier of 1.2 would be used to determine their classification. If they do not make the semi's the next year, a multiplier of 0.95 of the previous 1.20 will be used for the following year. Another championship will rais the multiplier to 1.40, etc. Any team that does not make at lease the semi's in any year will be given a multipler of 0.90 for the next year. Another failure will result in another 0.90 for the following year, etc. If more than 70 players dress, there will be a multiplier of 1.16 unless they have won a championship in any activity including academic team during the previous decade then the multiplier would be prime minus 4.0 If a team ever, through the multiplier system achieves a rating of 10 or higher, they will be banned from playing until they roll doubles. If a team ever, through the multiplier system obtains a rating of 0.20 or lower, they will be given a participation trophy and allowed to field 16 players at a time. This is all the time I have to ponder this at the moment, I have to work on the CAT testing formula for a while.
December 12, 200718 yr Not time for a multipler, it's time for a split. How exactly will this happen? Publics have already tried this route. Remember.
December 12, 200718 yr Author Not time for a multipler, it's time for a split. No, it isn't. For every Trinity, St. Xavier and Lexington Catholic, there is a St. Mary, St. Patrick or Whitefield Academy that simply struggles to be competitive in every sport. You can't penalize one private school without penalizing all of them.

And when it really comes down to it, the private vs. public issue IMO is more about the ego of coaches and not so much about kids, so who really cares if a St. Mary, or Calvary Christian, or Heritage Academy are penalized.
December 12, 200718 yr Not time for a multipler, it's time for a split. How insulting would a multiplier be to Highlands, Belfry, Mayfield, Beechwood, Danville, Russell, Bowling Green, Male, and other public schools that have no problem getting it done?
December 12, 200718 yr Author How insulting would a multiplier be to Highlands, Belfry, Mayfield, Beechwood, Danville, Russell, Bowling Green, Male, and other public schools that have no problem getting it done?Something tells me that they would be far from being insulted ... I suspect most of them would be all for it.
December 13, 200718 yr Something tells me that they would be far from being insulted ... I suspect most of them would be all for it. You've got to be kidding. Guarantee Highlands and Beechwood would never be for it. Highlands self-imposed a multiplier on themselves in order to JOIN Covington Catholic in 5A.
