Central 27 Belfry 17

Featured Replies

Well, I personally did not have a dog in this fight. However, while tailgating after our game, I absolutely LOVED the entrance that the Central fans made.

The band marched through the Louisville arch (guessing that is what it is called) and drew the attention of everyone in the parking lot!

What a great demonstration of team spirit! I know absolutely nothing about Central, but left hoping they would win.

Way to go Central!:dancingpa:dancingpa

Congrats to Central on the victory. I have to say I am surprised but thats what the playoffs are in place for, to settle it on the field and not in the chat rooms. Belfry seemed totally out of its element, large in part to the success of the Central D. With the type of smashmouth straight forward offense the Pirates run, its crucial to be mistake free and avoid turnovers, needless to say the Pirates didnt get it done. It would be interesting to see how many false starts Belfry was called for in this game. It was as if they were trying to time the snap in order to offset the defensive speed of the Yellowjackets. Great game and season by both teams.

Spectacular game! I have been pulling for the Jackets to win a title for years, I am so happy I got to see them do it.

Watching them play the Big Dogs of 6A and 5A this year we really got to see what these guys were made of, we knew you could do it Central! :dancingpa:dancingpa:dancingpa:dancingpa

Congrats Central.

I guess arrogance doesn't win State Championships. There should be some crow eaten tonight by some folks who gave Central no chance.

Central played a tough schedule that prepared them for this night.

Congrats Central. I enjoyed every minute of the game. After seeing Central lose at home to Bowling Green last year in a game I thought they should have won I knew they would be back. Congratulations.

Last one, I have to go see the Purples and the Birds:

Those are some excellent pics, 'ru! :thumb:

Congrats to Louisville Central.

This Crow is tasting pretty good.

Good run Belfry. EKY is still proud of the Priates!

After leaving this morning at 4:30 to go to work, I have officially returned and am dead tired, I will write a book tomorrow, but for tonight:

Congrats to a very, very good Central team. They were better prepared, they executed better, and with all of this talk (including from myself) of Central wearing down by game's end, it was IN FACT Belfry who wore down. This game was as hard hitting as they come.

The Pick 6 before the half was huge, really huge. Belfry also chose to kick the extra point trailing 21-16, had they went for two and got it the score would have been 21-18 and Belfry's playcalling may have drastically differed on the drive where they fumbled the ball, False starts and dropped passes didn't help, Ty Scroggins coached a beautiful game.

Make no bones about it, Central earned this victory, thye played their hearts out.

The Central turnovers in the first half kept Belfry in the game.

Congrats to the Yellow Jackets. After the game you gave Highlands, I had you pegged for the title. Very good team.

Late in the game when Central had the mishap on a punt, that would have sealed the deal a few years ago. (I believe bad punts cost them a game several years back against Trinity in the playoffs). I do believe the BIG play was the fumble deep in Central's territory with a chance to take a late lead.

Congatulations to Central and Ty Scroggins! We were convinced they would be a team to be reckoned with in 3A barely escaping with a win in week 1. Coach had to do an amazing job of keeping them focused on their goal while losing (albeit to 5A and 6A powers) 5 games before the (2 before going into) playoffs.

This was one of the most awkwardly officiated games I have ever seen, not saying it was a horrible called game, just the ref calling my time about 10 times when Belfry got into any offensive flow and some other things and the 2 Central fumble, as well as the borderline offsides and pass interferences.....

Must be some method to that madness of playing larger and tougher schools in the regular season? Sacrifice your record for a state championship--Congrats to Central on peaking at the right time!! Should have seen this one coming late in the season with a respecable loss to X and the close loss to Highlands!!

Yeah I talked with a KHSAA rep during the game and he was telling me he couldn't believe some of the calls. He saw what I saw two miss pass interferance calls, and when they called Belfry offsides when they drew Central off. He didn't like those missed at a state game.

But ya know what we still should have executed better and we would have had nothing to worry about, we got out and forced several turnovers, and our defense did well for the most part, you just cant play the way Belfry did with costly mistakes, penalties against a good team.

By the way big congrats to central, you guys outplayed Belfry no doubt about it, and to all juniors and below let this be a lesson to you, remember wheat loosing feels like and do everything in your power to not let it happen next season.
