Congrats to the Jackets. I did not think they could do it this year. I was obviously wrong. Great job.

I agree the INT right before half was a major play.

Belfry seemed to be a little out of their game with all of the turnovers.

Central proved to everyone today that they are for real.

I wonder if more teams will opt to upgrade their schedule after seeing how this helped Central in such a large way?

Congrats to Central on the great win.

Belfry will be back and for those seniors who are getting college looks it is time to start thinking which school you will go to.

Denison is a fine choice. (LOL)

Congrats Central

It seems that most of the people picking Belfry to win big were going by Belfry beating a team that beat Central badly. Ipapi had the best quote in the thread saying that you can't compare scores when two teams have played the same team during the season.
You can compare scores, but sometimes you have to consider the extenuating circumstances. Some of us tried to point that out.

:ylsuper: CONGRATS YELLOWJACKETS!! :ylsuper:

Congratulations to Central! Very impressive. I know the Bluebird nation gained a great deal of respect for your team and program a few weeks back... way to finish 2007 very strong!

True, there were a few HHS fans among the votes for Central in the poll. They gave us everything we wanted just a few weeks ago so we knew they could win, even against a very tough Belfry team. Congratulations to Central on the championship and to Belfry for their great season.

Congratulations to Central on their State Championship. Belfry!! You guys know Jeepman loves you and hated to see you loose. I'm happy for the young men at Central for their first ever State Championship. It's always good to see someone else take home the big prize. Once again Congratulations.

Congrats Yellowjackets!!! I remember Coach Scroggins went out on a limb when he expressed interest in this job and wasn't treated very well by his former school-I'm tickled to death about what he and the Central players have achieved. :dancingpa:dancingpa:dancingpa

That was a shock to me. Central stopped Belfry from what I listened on the radio. Great job by the Yellow Jackets. Now we still are one up on the pirates!

I know everyone knows about how brutal Central's schedule was but the reality of it was the teams that they lost to, have a combined record of 58-8 (pre-state championships) and two are playing in the big school title games (Highlands and X). Central had one heck of a season and now we KNOW that a brutal schedule cand definetely help you out in the long run.

Maybe Breathitt Co. is paying attention and upgrades their schedule in the future. I thought Belfry's schedule was pretty tough.

Funny, I listened to the KHSAA broadcast and never heard that at all.

In fact if we are talking about the same broadcast I can say that Steve Bertram knows all too well the kind of athletes that Central has (all those years they played Boyle in the playoffs) and he has little love beyond professional respect for Belfry (reasons not to be named).

(I'd love to hear those reasons!) (maybe quietly);)

Holcomb usually plays a solid schedule every year, some years he schedules crazy hard schedules, and some years nothing but patsies. This just happened to be a patsy year. Why he does that I have no idea, because Breathitt Co. can usually play with anybody. I remember in 2001 Breathitt played Fleming Co. (11-2 that year) Beechwood, Rockcastle Co.(3A runner-up that year), Hazard (9-3), and Harrison Co. (11-2 that year) in the first 5games. Holcomb also had a 4 year series with perennial Virginia power Powell Valley. I just don't know why he didn't play any really tough games this year.

Let's Go Cent......
