Good sportsmanship on the field last night as well.

It was a hard played game. Belfry played hard as well. BHS made mental mistakes that will get you beat in championship football.

With 4 minutes to go, Belfry is clearly driving the ball and it looked like they were going to punch it in. LC player penetrates and knocks the ball loose from the QB and LC recovers. Then LC breaks the big play and they seal the game.

I think the last 11 seconds of the first half sealed Belfry's fate, that was a huge play.

LC wasn't going to beat Belfry driving up and down the field. They got a couple of big break away runs and crazy play and the end of the second qtr and they get the W and the trophy.

With exception of the play just before the half, all the other turnovers for both teams were reasonable. Players were hitting hard forcing fumbles and BHS particularly has some great pass coverage.

I will add this LC team was much different than the JC game I had seen earlier. Particularly #6 and #24, I don't even remember seeing them make a play and last night they were all over the place. #24 on defense was very impressive.

I don't want to take anything away from LC but Belfry did not play their best or most disciplined game last night.

Then why?

I posted this in the Belfry 08 thread.

Central loses 7 of 11 offensive starters including their QB, RB, FB, WR, TE, and two OL.

CONGRATS CENTRAL!!!

YOU DESERVE IT!

this Pirate team is determined and hungry and will punish Central from the get go.

This game WILL NOT...I repeat...WILL NOT be close.

No disrespect to Central but after seeing how they reacted to a moderately physical Johnson Central they will throw in the towel after they see a very physical Belfry. No contest in this one.

Just a little follow-up

This Tiger fan wants to say congrats to the Jackets. It was a long time coming. Maybe some other schools will look at your schedule and see the benefits of competition, and not just wins and losses. Great SEASON!

Central deserves all the credit in the world, especially for that last drive. There was still 4 minutes on the clock. If Belfry could have gotten a stop, they would have had a chance to score, but Central just ran the ball down Belfry's throat. Very impressive.

Bottom line IMO = your asking too much when you expect 6 strong men to block 11 strong men.

Congrats to Lou. Central on the state 3A state title!

IMO the Belfry kids, coaches and fans have absolutely nothing to hang your heads over. The tradition at the Belfry Pirate Powerhouse program speaks for itself. Congrats another great season for the Pirates. :thumb:

Congrats to the Yellow Jackets. Great season.

WOO-HOO CENTRAL !!! Bet that band was ROCKIN" in the stands!! NOW maybe y'all will get the props that you are so deserving. STATE CHAMPS, BAY-BEEEEEEEEEEE !!!

Congrats Central on a great win. I'm sure that Yellow Jacket Nation is proud today. Earlier when I watched you all play HHS, I was impressed with your team and talented young men. I thought then that youn had a championship team and gave the BIRDS all they wanted that night. Again great job and congrats.

Congratulations to the Jackets and coach! Way to finish it!

I knew they could do it, because they were the hardest hitting team that St X played this year. Not ONE of the hardest. THE hardest hitters.

Congrats Jackets. St X fan everywhere is proud of you!

Exactly....I kept hearing on this forum how Belfry was going to be more physical and harder hitting(somebody suggested Central might just crawl into a "fetal position") and I was like wow....I gotta go see the Pirates because if that's true they must have a team full of studs. So I went and saw. Not to take anything away from Belfry, but no question Central was the harder hitting team. Belfry had their chances, the first half INT with a few seconds left for a TD return was a colossal mistake IMO. You gotta take a knee or run the ball and go in with a lead. Then, the fumble in the red zone in the second half was huge. Congrats to both teams on an outstanding season.
