Going for it is not a bad call. You have 4 minutes left, go and if you don't get it then you have them pinned deep and you can stop and get good field position. Just run it, not throw it. They have a big, strong back. Either way, they had a chance and that is what matters. Be aggressive and you get rewarded!! Great game and great job to Both teams!

On a side note: The most combined points ever (73) in Kentucky's Class A state championship game.

Guess that call to go for it on fourth down will 4ever haunt LCA but what a effort. Beechwood's returns on special teams were huge

I don't think it was that huge, the simple fact of the matter is that Raines did not think LCA could beat Beechwood in OT. He knew Beechwood would wear LCA down. So, he went for the win. I can understand why he did it. LCA plays a lot of people on both sides of the ball, and Beechwood does not play as many players both ways. I see it as a good call to go for it, if they made it it would be the play of the game.

I thought no team on the east side could hold a candle to the likes of Beechwood and Frankfort but I was wrong

Several people have said all season, in the pre-season, during the season, and every week of the playoffs, that District 5 is very good. We also said that LCA is good and will be good for a while. The closest game that LCA had in the playoffs, until today, was interdistrict play with Raceland, a two point game. They then won handily in round 3 and 4. You will see District 5 a lot from now on with them going to the east instead of the north.

Congratulations to Beechwood and Coach Noel Rash. Hope this is the first of many State Championships for Coach Rash, greatcoach & a better person.

What a football game! Wow...that is about all I can say. I was listening to the webcast. LCA kids have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. They (LCA) are an excellent football team, I am sure that you (players ) have made your coaches, school and community proud. A Huge underdog and had a chance to win the game, went for a TD to win instead of a FG to tie. Gutsy call by Coach Rains. IMO LCA really outplayed Beechwood in this one, they (I believe)had more yardage, forced 4 turnovers, had a big advantage in time of possesion. Just about everything I think except for the only stat that really matters.............the final score.

 

As a Raceland fan I just wanted to post my congrats to L.C.A. on fine season, you beat us by 2pt. for the district title and then went and won the region, semi final and to the State Final!

L.C.A. you have represented our district well. :thumb: I know that the players are hurting right now, that will pass and you will be left with a sense of pride and what you have accomplished this season. Again, great job by LCA players, coaches and their fans. As far as I am concerned you are all class and we (Raceland) will see you at our place next season. :ylsuper:

I agree. I don't think anyone at LCA should question the decision to go for it - maybe the play call however. You play to win, not to keep from losing. Great game by LCA. With so many sophomores starting now, I look for LCA to be a title contender for a couple more years, at least.
