I agree. I don't think anyone at LCA should question the decision to go for it - maybe the play call however. You play to win, not to keep from losing. Great game by LCA. With so many sophomores starting now, I look for LCA to be a title contender for a couple more years, at least.

:thumb: I agree, and for the highlighted part we here at Raceland are hoping that maybe some of those fine Sophs. that LCA has will be drafted in the NFL or will graduate h.s. early and move on to the NCAA! :scared:

 

Just looking ahead for now............LCA and Raceland were both very young teams and were loaded with talnet, should be a great one between the two again next season. I beleive that that paticular thread can wait till next season though....

What was the LCA coach thinking? The Eagles have their wings clipped.

 

The privates will have to settle for a tie with the publics for number of state titles in football this season.

Congrats Beechwood on #10

 

Several people have said all season, in the pre-season, during the season, and every week of the playoffs, that District 5 is very good. We also said that LCA is good and will be good for a while. The closest game that LCA had in the playoffs, until today, was interdistrict play with Raceland, a two point game. They then won handily in round 3 and 4. You will see District 5 a lot from now on with them going to the east instead of the north.

 

:thumb: I agree Ram, I personally picked LCA and Beechwood in the pre season to play for the state title this season.

I also predicted LCA to win the Championship in close one - possibly in o.t. :eek:. I almost was right, and me being rght is a scary thought!:scared:

Congratulations Beechies...Way to keep playing through adversity and showing alot of character and heart in your comeback victory...Also, congrats to LCA, who proved to me, at least, that they belonged in the finals and for the gutsy call on 4th down. I liked it...

 

If this 1st game is any indication of what these finals are going to be like, there's going to be alot of fun over the next couple of days...WOW..

Very entertaining game with momentum shifting back and forth. I don't understand why LCA didn't kick the field goal to tie the game because I think you could argue LCA was playing better offensively in the second half.

I guess I also have to say that Beechwood should be super-strong again next year with a Senior class of 21 (from what I hear)! Many small schools would give anything to have class sizes that big on their football teams. They will be a force again. These two teams will probably be pre-season #1 and #2 next year!

 

Fourth and one game on the line. What pressure is there on Beechwood when the game is tied? If I'm an LCA coach I make the same decision to go for it, although I probably run it instead of pass. BW had already blocked a punt so a field goal isn't a sure thing. Statistically running on fourth and one is successful more than 50% of the time right?

WOW! What a game! Much closer than I thought it would be. LCA is awesome! We didnt wear them down like I thought we would. They NEVER gave up!

 

There were some really bad calls. Beechwood made some uncharacteristic mistakes that were costly. LCA took full advantage of our errors.

 

All in all a great old fashioned dogfight! Definately got our moneys worth!

 

As far as the 4th and 1 call is concerned.......cant blame the coach. LCA was doing a pretty good job against us on 4th down. If they had made it, people would have called it the greatest call of the year. Hindsight is always 20/20.

 

Had the opportunity to meet Bluto. Very nice to meet him. Came with his toga and headpiece! Loved it!

 

Eagles, you have nothing to hang your heads about. This game could have gone either way. You are very talented and very young.....a great combination. I am sure that your championship will be coming soon.

Unbelieveable game!! Congrats to the Beechwood Tigers on #10 and hats off to LCA on a heckova effort!! I was another that thought LCA would hang around for a half and BW would wear them down in the 2nd? I can't believe how young LCA is at the key skill positions, they'll be tough the next several years. Easy to say now, but I would have tied the game on 4th down, as BW wasn't playing that well on offense late in the game, and LCA was on fire.
