Very nice performance by both teams. I must admit I was not expecting this game to be close. I am very impressed with LCA and how hard they played. Looking at LCA's roster I feel fairly certain we will be meeting them in the playoffs or finals again, they had several good looking underclassmen. Congrats to the Tigers on their tenth title.

You guys played well, and delivered.

2 different philosophies are evident here.

 

#1: go for the win.

Going for it is not a bad call. You have 4 minutes left, go and if you don't get it then you have them pinned deep and you can stop and get good field position. Just run it, not throw it. They have a big, strong back. Either way, they had a chance and that is what matters. Be aggressive and you get rewarded!! Great game and great job to Both teams!

 

#2: go for tie with 4 minutes left and play for another series and/or OT.

 

I don't understand why LCA didn't kick the field goal to tie the game because I think you could argue LCA was playing better offensively in the second half.

 

Either way, congrats to both teams.

 

I would have tied the game on 4th down, as BW wasn't playing that well on offense late in the game, and LCA was on fire.

BTW, same scenario, same call in the 1st half= TD. Eagles went for on 4th down instead of the FG on the opposite end and came away with 6, no one is second guessing that call now. Rains made gutsy calls the whole game and most of them worked out in LCAs favor.

I was very impressed with LCAs players- down 14, they didn't give up, down 10 late, didn't hang their heads- they played their hearts out- as did the BW kids. It was a fun game, that in the end could have gone either way. Congrats to BW!

Yes it was in the middle of the field and LCA has a very good kicker.

LCA- Your Coach made the right choice. Had they made it he would be the toast of the town and next mayor of Lexington. But instead folks will question him all year. Bottom line he had the faith in his team to make it. It speaks volumes. With 4 minutes to go he believed if he didnt make he would get the ball back in great field position.

 

Bottom line, I look up to coach Rains for making the call. He was playing to WIN and not playing to lose. There is a difference.

Way to go LCA. You just about did it. Nice season. See you all next year and hopefully at home two times.

Congrats to Beechies. I, too, love when coaches play to win. It seems that his other 4th down calls worked. Sounds like 2 very evenly matched teams and a great game. Super season for LCA, too.
