How about the Covington Catholic and Holy Cross teams of the late 1970's. You had the best 3 teams in one district. Holmes ---- Schloemer, Jones, Meyer, Wimzie, Behle, Walton CovCath ---- Rechtin, Macke, Mohr, Duncan, Zembrodt Holy Cross --- List, Erledge, Lonneman, Fortner Those were some intense rivaries and great basketball games!! -

Otte wasn't high man for the SHHS? -
Mace has heavy feet and is very mechanical. When he is in the game Dixie is limited to playing a high court offense, as they have to wait for him to come down and set up. Defensively it limits them in pressing situations due to his lack of speed and quickness. If he plays at the next level he will be better suited to play for a Princeton style team which slows it down and frustrates the other team.

This was the first time I saw Holmes play this year, and I was impressed. They are athletic, quick, and deep. They started the game out in just a harassment press, but at the end of the 1st qtr., beginning of the 2nd qtr. they racheted up the intensity of thier press and it was devasting. Dixie never recovered and the game in essence was over, if Holmes wanted they could have won by 25 points. I will put Holmes up against anybody in the state, I would love to see a team try to play them in an up tempo 94 ft. game, Holmes would run and out athlete them out of the gym!

Walton Verona 72 Simon Kenton 69

Hey Scout, is Walton a 1 light or 2 traffic light town? -
Dixie was flat and was down double digits for much of the game. GRC can shoot the trey, as they made 10 for the night. GRC did a nice job of spreading Dixie out and working the ball to the open man behind the arc. Dixie just did not have any flow or rythum in this game, and gave up easy buckets at the end of the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd quarters as time expired. GRC has a nice squad.

If they do meet in the regional finals SK will bounce back and win by 10 or more! I think SK will make it, but not the Bearcats!!!!! -

Is Derek Adams from St. Henry injured? Notice that he was not in the box score the other night. -

Ken Broo of Channel 5 in Cincinnati said it would be announced on Wednesday. Looks like Rodenberg has a little Petrino, or alot of Larry Brown in him! Coach or mercanary for hire? -
Congratulations to Beechwood and Coach Noel Rash. Hope this is the first of many State Championships for Coach Rash, greatcoach & a better person.

Would the fan's in Erlanger be happy if Lucas came back? I think Lloyd should look at injecting some new blood into thier program. If Lucas had more success I would understand it, but I just think it's time to look else where for some new ideas and infuse the program.

Holmes 33 Dixie Heights 20
Irish Warrior replied to stickymitts's topic in KY Football (High School)
Disagree, last week Dixie pounded the ball running down Conner's throat on the first drive. The next 4 to 5 drives Dixie continued to try and pass which resulted in 3 and outs. After halftime Dixie got back to running the ball which opened up the passing game. As I stated earlier Dixie's passing attack seems to rely on the big play to much. They continue to force the ball to the outside of the field for 20+ yard completions. These are extremely high risk passes when balls are being over thrown and forced into coverage. If Dixie would work the whole field in there passing attack, and throw in some dink passes and work the middle with more high percentage passes it would open up those outside routes. Right now the passing attack is a high risk adventure which isn't paying off and putting way to much pressure on thier "D" by constantly being put in short field situations and being on the field way to long. It seems that were either all pass, or all run, we haven't been able to mix the two halves successfully to compliment and keep the defense guessing. -

First off congrats to Holmes for taking advantage of the situation given to them. Good win! Dixie continues to shoot itself in the foot. When your pounding the ball between the tackles, and your QB is having a bad game by forcing the ball, and over throwing his recievers why do you abandon what is working? What is the idenity of Dixie's passing game? IMO they keep trying to hit a home run on every attemp. Most of the passes are thrown to the outside, or skipped to the wideouts for a flanker screen. Dixie hardly ever works the middle of the field, or look for underneath recievers to set up the big play. They continuously try to force the ball to the outside for 20+ yard receptions. Many of these passes are incomplete which then leave your offense in 2nd/10 & 3rd/10 situations. The accuracy and decision making has not been present this year in Dixie's passing attack. This results in quick 3 & out's putting the strain on the Defense by constantly being on the field. I'll congradulate Holmes again by taking advantage of the situation handed them, but actually this was a game Dixie lost by questionable strategy and execution. -
9th Region Freshman Forecast
Irish Warrior replied to Irish Warrior's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I heard Dixie picked up some nice players from St. Henry, and Cov Cath's best incoming player this year also came from St. Henry grade school. Also know for a fact that all these kids are football players, by not having football is it starting to cost St. Henry High School key athletes? -
So who will be the new head coach at Lloyd next year?
-
What Freshmen teams and players will standout this coming year in the 9th Region?

Could have been that his spot was no longer available when Kevin Listerman came on board? Who has since departed to be an assistant at Colerain? -
Dixie Freshman Coach
Irish Warrior replied to Irish Warrior's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
That's what I thought, my source told me it was going to be Rich Maile, Dick's son. Dick will be a great addition to Dixie basketball. He's a super person and a great coach. I'm thrilled that he will be passing along his basketball knowledge and more importantly his values to our kids. Good Luck Coach Maile! -
Can anyone tell me if Dixie is getting a new freshman coach? I heard some rumors who the coach is and find it far fetched.
