  1. What about school colors? How about the Cooper Comets sporting red and yellow uni's?
  2. Play that calliber of oppenent every week. Nothing against Trinity, but they would be consistently the 3rd to 5th place the majority of the time if they were added to the GCL South and played the exact schedule. The wear and tear due to the upgraded copmpetition every week would be a major factor. It would be like Louisville playing in the SEC as compared to the Big East. Do you really believe Louisville would have lost only 1 game last year if they were in the SEC?
  3. Now I'd like to Trinity play, Elder, LaSalle, & Moeller, plus a few Cincinnati public schools like Colerain and Princeton in that order, that is the meatgrinder of the GCL South. I'm sure this was an important game for St. X, but not nearly as big as it was for Trinity. St. X just played DeMatha from Maryland, and Glenville from Cleveland that were both natinally ranked. Plus they haven't even gotten into there GCL schedule whisc are huge rivalry games on the line of Louisville St.X / Trinity battles, then throw in Cleveland St. Ignatius or Lakewood St. Edward. No disrespect to Trinity, it's a different level of football and X may have been looking ahead. Your guys deserve alot of credit for coming up and battling a tough oppenent, by playing better competition will only make you better and you and Louisville St. X are still a class above and the measuring stick of Kentucky football.
  4. Simon Kenton 27 Dixie 6 This was a devastigating loss for the Dixie. It looks like Dixie will lose thier two best players due to injuries suffered in the game. Thier QB/S is repoted to have broken his thumb on his throwing hand, and the FB/MLB it is feared has tore a ligament in his knee. Game was close for the first half. Then within the early part of the 3rd quater the bad luck struck the Colonels. Injuries have really effected this Dixie group this year. Hope they will continue to fight through it.
  5. For the St. X game @ Nippert Stadium against DeMatha, my Dad who attended the game and is a St. X grad (1953) when it was still located on Sycamore street told me St. X dressed 120 players with only 5 Sophmores on the roster.
  6. The BOMBERS will live up to their name and drop many on Trinity. Welcome to the GCL South, proably one of the premiere if not the best football conference in the country! Bombers in a BIG WAY!
  7. Maher is lowlife! Another I hate America, blame America and the right for every thing that is wrong. Bill should appreciate the fact that he is an American, if he hates it here so much why doesn't he move to France or Canada where he thinks they are so enlightened and progressive? Why does the media constantly give the idiots like Maher, O'Donnell, Penn, Robbins, Belefonte, Glover the platform and attention to sprew their venom and hatred and anti-American views?
  8. The Erlanger Lions are the power of the Senior division.
  9. This still was not a clean game for Dixie. The offense did score on some big plays, but penalties and lack of rhytum do to the no huddle offense had Dixie making this game way to close. My understanding is that the no huddle offense is designed to make the defense tired and limit substitions. How many delay of game penalties have Dixie had this year due to the fact that the play is not called in time? I thought that part of the purpose of the no huddle was to make the defensive players get in thier stance and make them tired by waiting for the play to occur? In Dixie's no huddle the quaterback is not under center or in shotgun formation, but halfway between the sideline and the offensive formation waiting for the coach to signal in the play. During this whole time the defense is basically just standing there not in there stance watching and conserving energy while the offense is scrambling to get the play in lined up and snapped. It's my opinion that the coach is waiting to see what the defense is going to deploy due to down & situation that causes the delay in getting the play called. Then Dixie has to scramble around to get in formation, all the while the defense is still not in there stance. I just don't understand the logic behind Dixie's no huddle, IMO this is the main reason why Dixie can't get into any offensive rhytum or flow, and why they seem to keep shooting themselves in the foot and can't put together meaningful drives. I just don't see the benefit in this style of no huddle. I know Dixie is extremely young in there defensive backfield, it was obvious who CovCath single out as the weak link, as they constantly took advantage of the same DB all night long.
  10. The GCL South has to be one of the premere leagues in the country. I think alot of people outside the Greater Cincinnati area can't comprehend the level competition and just the sheer quality and tradition they have. LaSalle has been the weakest football program traditionally in the league. Trinity and St. X Louisville might be able to win a game or two in good years, but the week in and week out competition of the GCL South is a meatgrinder. Then throw in that most of those schools play the Colerain/Princeton/Lakota's, every year, and they always get those schools best shot since it's so prestigious to beat Elder, Moeller, St. X, LaSalle. Most of the GCL schools have to schedule the perennial Northeast Ohio powers since many schools will not schedule them. It will be interesting to see if the larger Louisville & lexington 6A schools will continue to play them.
  11. DIXIE 17 HOLMES 6 Dixie dominates on both sides of the line. Holmes scored a touchdown on a broken play on the last snap of the game when Dixie had in thier 2nd team. Good win for the Colonels!
  12. Dixie's offense is still struggling IMO. They don't seem to have any rhythm or flow and seem to shoot themselves in the foot with turnovers and penalties to kill drives and scoring oppurtunities. Last week they keep going 3 and out, and the defense was on the field constantly. Beechwood had to have had double the time of posession as Dixie. The Colonels had the oppurtunity to put this game out of reach by halftime, but just keep sputtering on offense, if they continue this trend in district play the outcome will be the same as the Beechwood game. Thier offense needs to get in gear and take some pressure off the defense by grinding out finishing drives and scoring touchdowns. Dixie should be 2-0 right now!
  13. Noel Rash the current Defensive Coordinator would be perfect for the job.
  14. Just a note, Beechwood was down with two key defensive starters. Evan Reilly who was the anchor of the "D" had his ACL operated on today, was lost two weeks ago. It just wasn't meant to be for the Tigers this year!
