January 11, 200818 yr D1 teams usually consist of all star teams where kids are drawn from not just one or two cities but various. That is unless the talent pool is exceptional or you are in a major METRO area like Louisville/Lexington. I can think of 8 kids from NKY right now in 13U that I would like to put together and take downstate for a D1 tourney but the logistics behind that would probably be difficult. Curious, who would you take?
January 11, 200818 yr Curious, who would you take? Im sure a few Wolfpack players, couple Tar Heels, few NKY Warriors, then maybe a couple other ringers that are stars for other teams up here. Basically just put a strong group together and go battle with other D1 teams. On another subject, trying to get an idea if there would be any 13U AAU teams out there that would be interested in playing extra games on Sunday afternoons/evenings during the months of Feb/March/April up until STate Tourney. I know there are a lot of tournaments going on but that can get expensive. We may have access to 2 nice gyms in Ft. Thomas and would love to play some games against local NKY or any other teams willing to come up during these months. Not sure if there is going to be a fee or not, probably just cover the cost of a referee which is typically $25. We see all of these other leagues going on where the fee is $350 and then $25 a game for refs and realized we have 2 nice gyms that can be used and just want to play some games. If anybody has a list of email addresses for some of the 13U NKY teams pm me. thanks

January 11, 200818 yr Lake cumberland is a very nice team with all of the parts. They will be a tough game for anyone in the 10/u, reguardless of age or school affiliation. I think lex cath is made up of AAU players from different teams around lexington. They will be very good in the 12/u division. The 11/u division is loaded except for the ville and the legends not participating. I do not know much about the 9/u's and very little about the rest of the 10's. Which are you with?
January 12, 200818 yr we are the Albany Bulldogs... We are playing 3rd and 6th at the kba. Our best bunch is 5th. we finished 3rd in the aau state last season losing to the ville by 8 in the semis and second in the usssa state. we also play 4th.
January 13, 200818 yr Did any teams stand out this weekend at KBA or at Hoops? Omega All Stars played two good games yesterday at KBA. Unfortunately, they came up just short against the Lexington Colonels. The Colonels are a solid team across the board (semifinals of state last year). In the first game, Omega beat Lake Cumberland by 18 (probably the best game I have seen Omega play this year).

January 13, 200818 yr Lots of kids are qualified as exemptions even though they have never repeated a grade. Alot of parents start their kids a little late and if their birthdate falls after September 1, they are also grade exceptions. I have seen this arguement both ways. I finally came to the conclusion that if they are eligible to play as a senior, then it's ok. Your are going to have to play agaist them the rest of the way anyway. And you are right, any good AAU or USSSA team has the 2-3 grade exceptions. I do think some teams do some illegal things with grade exceptions but they usually don't get by with it when they show up at the AAU state tournament. It's just part of the game.... you have to join in or take a few more losses, whichever you prefer.(grade exceptions)

Just wanted to clarify for those not familiar with the rule.
January 14, 200818 yr NKY Warriors 13U blew out a team from Westchester OH also called the Warriors last night 45- 15. I am finding out that the Evendale OH 13U league probably only has 3-4 solid teams in it out of the 10 entered. Oh well, when school ball is over for these kids they will play a much tougher schedule to prepare for state tournament.
